As a Legal Assistant, you play a direct role in our firm. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations on each file and ensure that the lawyer is up-to-date on all files, at all times.

- 3+ years experience in Civil or Family Law as a legal assistant (required)
- Completed a recognized post-secondary Legal Assistant or Paralegal program
- Experience with Real Estate, Corporate and/or Immigration Law is an asset, but not required
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat and general office procedures
- Proficiency in English writing
- Attention to detail
- Committed to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Organized and able to prioritize your work with a proven ability to exercise a high initiative while projecting a tactful and diplomatic approach at all times
- Strong communication skills
- Able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and the court system
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Have a good sense of humor when times get trying and love helping to build a team environment

**Duties will include**:

- Managing files from open to close
- Drafting documents
- Managing incoming inquiries from current and prospective clients.
- Making client appointments and managing calendars
- Booking court dates and maintaining a client court diary for deadlines and appearances
- Liaising with court staff and other law offices
- Other legal duties as required.

The position includes benefits after 3 months and pays a starting salary competitive with firms of similar size and practice type in the area. Salary commensurate with experience.
