The Ontario Palliative Care Network (OPCN) is an organized partnership of community stakeholders, health service providers and health systems planners. Together, the OPCN develops a coordinated, standardized approach to high-quality, sustainable and person-centred hospice palliative care for all Ontarians, regardless of age or disease type. The OPCN Secretariat, housed at Ontario Health, executes the mandate of the OPCN, and supports the operational and tactical activities of the OPCN. The Specialist works with the OPCN Secretariat team to support the implementation of key areas in the Action Plan and work on the Compassionate Care Act. The Specialist contributes to project planning and execution by conducting planning, research and analysis activities.

Here is what you will be doing:

- Drive the conceptualization, development, implementation, and management of projects
- Support the managers, team leads and other team members in the development and maintenance of work plans to ensure completion of deliverables on time, and escalate project risks as appropriate
- Develop various products including but not limited to briefing notes, analytical reports, executive summaries, status updates and presentations to support internal and external communication, business reporting and decision-making
- Support relevant stakeholder engagement activities, including documenting meetings, agendas, work plans and deliverables, and facilitating discussions as required
- May present findings, reports and commentary as requested
- Support and foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to project teams, advisory councils, working groups, committees, regional stakeholders, Ministry, etc.
- Support integration within Ontario Health departments on related work, as appropriate, and supports other initiatives with the OPCN
- Work with the OPCN Secretariat team to develop yearly strategic operating plans and monthly / annual reports, as required
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to support project and/or program goals, as required

Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
- Completion of a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in health administration, public policy, health sciences or an equivalent combination of educational training and experience is required
- A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
- An understanding of Ontario’s healthcare system with particular emphasis on palliative care, Long-Term Care, home and community based care, primary care, and provider engagement
- Experience in the health care system, and more specifically with government, and/or palliative and end-of-life sector, is preferred
- Experience engaging and working with health system stakeholders and health service providers; engaging patients, caregivers, and equity deserving populations an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of planning approaches, research and analysis methodologies, and health systems structure and delivery
- Expertise and experience in data analysis, literature searches, policy analysis, and business strategy, and the ability to translate information into a convincing written argument, summaries, briefs or business case
- Skilled in creating products (e.g. papers, reports, presentations, diagrams) for multiple audiences
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word required; experience with Project an asset

Knowledge and Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks in parallel, prioritize and effectively anticipate and respond to issues as they arise
- Detail-oriented and process-driven with a demonstrated ability to produce high quality work consistently and effectively
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent skills in explaining complex concepts in a manner which is simple and easy to understand
- Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically
- Demonstrated collaboration and facilitation skills
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently and interact comfortably with all levels of organization and personnel
- Knowledge of best practices related to inclusion and health equity are considered an asset

Employment Type: 12 months
