Job Overview:
**TOPS Director Role and Responsibilities**:
**1. Educational Leadership**
- Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with educational standards
- Provide guidance and support to teaching staff in curriculum planning.
- Stay informed about early childhood education trends and best practices.

**2. Staff Management**
- Conduct regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Run monthly management-led meetings

**3. Program Development**:

- Plan and coordinate educational programs and special events.
- Plan a menu that meets school nutrition guidelines
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and nurturing

environment.
- Stay current with early childhood education research and integrate findings into the

program.

**4. Communication**:

- Establish and maintain open and effective communication with parents.
- Address parental concerns and provide updates on their child's progress.
- Ensure the board of directors are aware of any important issues
- Keep the board of directors informed of staff concerns
- Ensure communication is professional at all times
- Timely responses to stakeholders

**5. Budget Management**:

- Develop and manage the preschool budget.
- Allocate resources effectively to support educational and operational needs.
- Identify cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Provide the board of directors with monthly financials and credit card statements.
- Ensure invoices are sent to the bookkeeper or paid in a timely fashion to avoid late fees

or interest charges

**6. Regulatory Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for licensing purposes.
- Implement health and safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure the preschool’s two-to-sign requirement is met.

**7. Professional Development**:

- Facilitate professional development opportunities for staff.
- Stay informed about changes in early childhood education regulations.
- Encourage and support ongoing learning for all staff members.

**8. Enrollment Management**:

- Oversee the enrollment process, including admissions and registration.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain students.
- Manage waitlists and ensure efficient use of classroom space.
- Foster TOPS co-operative philosophy with new families

**9. Classroom Observation**:

- Conduct regular classroom observations to ensure quality instruction.
- Provide constructive feedback to teachers to enhance their teaching methods.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.

**10. Record Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
- Prepare and submit required reports to relevant authorities.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of student records.
- Ensure accurate records of timesheets

**11. Problem Resolution**:

- Address and resolve conflicts among staff or between staff and parents.
- Act as a mediator in challenging situations.
- Implement fair and consistent disciplinary measures when necessary.

**12. Facility Management**:

- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the preschool facility.
- Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate repairs and renovations as needed

**Minimum Requirements**:

- RECE Certified
- 2 years in a management or supervisory position
- Valid certification in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check, Level 3
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 44 per week
