In the last decade, the rate of Canadians with anxiety, depression, and bipolar have nearly doubled. Now, in any given year, one in five Canadians experiences a mental illness and 7% contemplate suicide. Substance abuse has also arisen with the Canadian Mental Health Association estimating that 21% of the population will meet the criteria for addiction in their lifetime. Unfortunately, the public system has not been able to serve the increased demand for intensive treatment, and the average wait time is now almost two months.

EHN Canada was founded in 2013 to support this growing demand. We believe that every Canadian has the right to mental health and addiction treatment services that are accessible (little to no wait times), affordable (paid for by your government or employer), and excellent (using outcomes measurement and evidenced-based practices). We have since grown to become the country’s largest private provider of mental health and addiction services. Clients now receive treatment via ten locations and a virtual program.

EHN Canada has an aggressive plan to increase treatment capacity 385% in five years. Not only is this is a young and emerging private industry, but we’re also the largest in Canada. The Admissions Coordinator serves this high inbound volume with a professional 30-minute phone consultation. This includes building a relationship, gaining a deep understanding of the situation through detailed discovery questions, and recommending an appropriate treatment program. To accomplish this effectively, teammates receive ongoing training on mental health disorders, how these conditions manifest and impact individuals, treatment modalities, ethics, confidentiality, and identifying client needs. Additionally, the position manages an active pipeline of inquiries while working with medical and clinical staff for admissions approval.

The admissions team is expected to double in the next five years. Since mastering this role requires an 18-24 month learning curve, leadership is only promoted from within. Not only are we seeking new members to join our team, but also future team leads, supervisors, managers, and directors.

Success in this position hinges on excellent communication skills, compassion, strong customer service abilities, self-motivation, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

**Work with Manager of Admissions to**:

- Manage, organize and prioritize day-to-day patient care activities, staffing and resource utilization of admission staff
- Function as an expert clinical resource for the team
- Facilitate individual and interdisciplinary team teamwork and effective work process
- Facilitate staff orientation and identify staff learning needs to make recommendations for further training
- Oversees that all staff are completing all admission documentation including databases and quality assurance measures.
- Participate in hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation when required In collaboration for admissions manager, liaise with nursing and other interdisciplinary team members as well as community providers to facilitate patient transitions
- Coordinates staff schedules for Admissions Counselors
- Awareness and a good understanding of the principles/protocols that govern health and safety issues
- Oversees bed allocation for all new admissions and room change requests or delegate as required
- Review any questionable assessments and co-ordinate with Admissions Manger, Clinical Director or Clinical Lead of appropriate program for the final decision regarding appropriateness for admission or referral to alternate resources.
- Group placement of all new admissions in collaboration with Clinical Director
- Participates in all educational endeavors of the facility and helps to develop, implement and evaluate department’s Quality Improvement activities
