Market Analyst

**Status**: Term (15 Months)

**Location**: St. John’s

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is seeking a highly motivated Market Analyst to join our Resource and Production Planning team. Working with the Market Analysis group, you will be focused on forecasting the electricity requirements of the provincial electricity system to ensure sustainable, reliable, and economic management of Hydro’s resources.

**In this role you will**:
Complete quantitative statistical and economic analyses to support the development of Hydro's load forecast models.

Collect and analyze data and other information used to support the major activities and responsibilities of the Market Analysis Section.

Analytically lead the preparation of Hydro's Rural Operations Load Forecast and Hydro’s long term load forecasts (+10 years) for its distribution systems to support planning and regulatory requirements.

Ensure the integrity of Hydro’s customer and technical data for its distribution systems.

Collect and maintain demographic information for Hydro’s distribution system customers for forecasting and other statistical purposes.

Monitor the energy and demand growth on all rural systems and sub-systems and revise and update applicable load forecasts throughout the year.

Prepare and report on load-related information and data to support internal and external stakeholders.

A post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or Technology is required, with a concentration in statistics, combined with knowledge of statistical regression analysis or econometrics and a minimum of five years work experience. Knowledge of the Provincial economy and the electric power sector would be an asset. Applicants should be interested in data analysis and have excellent oral and written communications skills. Other combinations of qualifications and related experience may be considered.
