**Who We Are**

The BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) is the regulatory body for all oral health professionals in BC. BCCOHP’s role is to protect the public and promote better health outcomes for patients. BCCOHP regulates 16,000 oral health professionals including certified dental assistants, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, denturists and dentists. We protect the public in three main ways:

- Ensuring that oral health professionals are able to practise competently
- Setting standards for the delivery of safe and patient-centred oral health care
- Investigating complaints about oral health professionals

**About the Role**

BCCOHP is seeking a permanent, full-time Director, Professional Practice. This position will report to the Executive Director, Regulation.

This role supports the Executive Director, Regulation and PPP department to ensure the development, review and maintenance of up-to-date standards and quality assurance for all oral health professionals.

**Essential Duties**
- Regulatory_
- Attend meetings of National regulatory bodies, contributing to the establishment of National competencies, and liaising with accrediting and credentialling agencies as needed in order to provide appropriate reporting mechanisms to the BCCOHP Board.
- Work with the Executive Director, Regulation and Executive Director, Policy, Projects & People in the maintenance of up-to-date standards for oral health professionals which are kept under review, reflect up-to-date practice and legislation and prioritize patient and service user centred care and safety; and
- Work with the Executive Director, Regulation in:

- overseeing the review, development, monitoring and measuring of the Quality Assurance Program(s); and
- the assessment of non-hospital surgical facilities including assessment and certification of sedation providers.
- Oversee the department’s team of oral health professional advisors.
- Provide collaborative support for the Standards and Guidance, Sedation and GA, and Quality Assurance committees.
- Oversight of the current four QAPs from the legacy colleges.
- Oversight of registrant certification processes for the provision of sedation and general anaesthetic services.
- Oversight of the assessment processes for determining registrant compliance with non-hospital dental facility requirements for the provision of sedation and general anaesthetic services.
- Ensure department practices in maintaining confidentiality of both hardcopy and electronic files.
- Oversee the processing of departmental statistical information for the purpose of reporting regulatory performance to the Board or in the Annual Report.
- Supporting the preparation of an annual budget for areas of responsibility.

- Provide leadership, management, mentorship and supervision of the professional practice team, including leads in Quality Assurance, Professional Practice, Sedation and non-hospital surgical facilities, and the professional advisors.
