The Raw Materials Innovation team shapes, surprises and engineers delight into the future guest experience through raw materials innovation principles and material science. We go beyond the classic research and development methodologies into the realm of limitless possibility for both body and mind. We innovate new materials that didn't exist, we create new experiences for our guests that they didn't know that they wanted. We get our guests altogether and engineer new sensations in our materials they've never experienced. We need you to work on short, mid and long-term projects by defining 'state of the art', leading research, building insight, generating unique point of view, creating prototypes and proving principles.

a day in the life
All of our employees play an important role in our business and are key members of the team. The Synbio Technology Innovator is responsible for bring understanding of synbio technology to the business, identify new Innovative technologies in synbio industry and introduce innovations across lululemon’s portfolio, working with partners to support and deliver against key R&D initiatives, convert concepts into prototypes and successful products. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with all the innovation teams, and cross-functional teams, as well as with our R&D partners.

your responsibilities include
- Bring an understanding of synbio technology to the business, educate your peers as well as leadership team on biotechnologies.
- Keep the team updated with latest and greatest research in the field of synbio by actively learning and researching.
- Identify, assess and validate biotechnologies.
- Support strategy and roadmap building for the Sustainability and Raw Material Innovation team.
- Use AI to identify, design and develop new synbio technologies and synbio materials.
- Scout new synbio technologies and companies, identify new innovative technologies and products in industry, introducing innovation across lululemon’s portfolio
- Ideate on synbiotechnologies renovate the têxtile industry such as creating new functions, closing the têxtile product lifecycles, and driving innovations in this area.
- Collate data in an organized and logical manner; analyze the data to uncover unique findings and correlations, and share your findings and insights with research teams, mainline teams, and industrial and academic partners.
- Actively participate in cross-disciplinary collaborations with our scientists, designers, cross-functional teams, project partners to support and deliver against key R&D initiatives, and enable best integration of new technologies into our existing workflows; contribute your strength to convert concepts into prototypes and successful products.

- You have a Master’s or PhD degree in synthetic biotechnology, biotechnology, microbiology, bioengineering or related discipline with a focus on the modification of biological systems for targeted molecular production
- You have more than 3 years industrial experience in biomanufacturing, biomaterial related areas, with demonstrated experience of engineered microbial fermentation of targeted molecules and bioprocesses.
- You have knowledge and experience on AI and AI based material discovery, design, modeling and informatics.
- You have strong interdisciplinary communication skills - both written and verbal
- You have demonstrated strong interest in environmental and social sustainability and ethical practices within science and technology.
- You have experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- You can simultaneously manage multiple projects.
