Course number and title: ENG270H1S-LEC101 Introduction to Colonial and Postcolonial Writing (Online Synchronous)

Course description: In this course, we examine the colonial archive for its representations of race, indigeneity, sexuality, and capital accumulation. We familiarize ourselves with the aesthetic and political modes of resisting colonial power around the world. Besides literary texts, our objects of study may include photographs, film, and digital media.

Estimated course enrolment: 50

Estimated TA support: 70 hours

Class schedule: ENG270H1S L101- Introduction to Colonial and Postcolonial Writing (online synchronous) (Monday & Wednesday 11-2pm)

Sessional Lecturer I: $9182.42

Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term: $9641.55

Sessional Lecturer II: $9826.96

Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term: $10025.84

Sessional Lecturer III: $10060.93

Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term: $10262.15

Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications: A PhD in English literature with relevant scholarly expertise or teaching experience required. Relevant and recent teaching experience. Demonstrated evidence of superior teaching is required.

Description of duties: All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including preparing the course outline, syllabus and lectures, delivering lectures, developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests & exams, holding regular office hours and the supervision of any assigned TA support.
