This position will report to the Safety and Training Support Services Department with the expectation of providing safety advisor
support to the Project Management Division.
Under the general direction of the Project Safety Section Head, the Project Safety Advisor is responsible for delivering and
supporting workplace safety and health programs tailored to project and contractor work. Provide safety assistance and support to
the Project Teams and line departments in the division. Coordinate efforts as required with other safety advisors in the Corporation
and liaise with the Safety/Health & Environment Division and Regulatory Authorities.
**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Provide Project Managers and Line Management Safety Services guidance and expert advice to ensure the effectiveness of
project safety systems and programs, and that safety requirements are met, both by our teams and by our contractors.
- Support a positive safety culture within and across the organization.
- Research and advise on effective safety and health practices for the projects, contractor safety, and within Department(s).
- Provide field safety services, including performing worksite visits, and assist with Risk Hazard Analysis, Job Planning, and
Safe Work Procedures. Provide constructive feedback to Contractors and Employees, and seek resolution for any issues and
concerns.
- Stop hazardous work in progress and report stop-work situations to management.
- Assist Line Management in ensuring work is performed in compliance with all legislated and Workplace Safety and Health
- requirements.
- Conduct and support evaluation and review of contractor safety plans, programs, and initiatives.
- Monitor, provide guidance, and take action to ensure the effective and consistent performance of Project and Contractor
- Safety. Respond to questions regarding specific issues and concerns.
- Conduct or contribute to consistent, thorough, and timely incident investigations, including SCAT Analysis, and distribute
- reports accordingly.
- Prioritize safety support for the assigned departments, contractors, and projects to maximize the safety performance of the
- division.
- Conduct monitoring of safety and health performance, and report on performance.
- Assist in the delivery of safety training and initiatives. Training will include, but is not limited to, Confined Space, Working at
- Elevations, Respirator Fit Testing, Safe Work Procedures, Job Planning, and Noise Control.
- Complete reviews of corrective actions and follow-ups of safety incidents.
- Evaluate work procedures with field staff to identify potential hazards.

- Instruct all employees on the requirements for, correct use of, and care of personal protective equipment.
**_ Qualifications:_**
- Two-year diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or safety-related discipline from an institution of recognized standing with
three years of safety-related experience, including two years of experience related directly to managing contractor safety in a
complex project environment.
OR
- Grade 12 graduation plus possession of a relevant Trade Certificate (or equivalent to Power Line Technician or Power Line
Journeyperson) with five years of safety-related experience, including two years of experience related directly to managing
contractor safety in a complex project environment.
OR
- One-year certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or safety-related discipline from an institution of recognized standing
with five years of safety-related experience, including two years of experience related directly to managing contractor safety in
a complex project environment.
- Enrollment or completion of the CAM, CIM, or CACE will be considered an asset.
- The successful applicant will be required to take Practical Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation, and other related
- safety/leadership courses as determined by line management.
