**Dispatcher job profile**

Dispatchers' duties and responsibilities can vary depending on the company and industry they work in. In general, they answer calls, communicate with Drivers to send the appropriate response and information, Communicate with Clients, Negotiate Rates and Load agreements, Operate a company’s TMS system, enter accurate Data, Update various Load information in Real-time, Plan, schedule, maximize revenues, work in a Team environment, support, Team members, Make notes on all orders as they happen, and to work with Management, Accounting, and Safety and Compliance to maintain a safe and harmonious environment.

**Dispatcher overview of duties and responsibilities**
- Receive and answer emergency and non-emergency calls form driver, clients and Management and address any immediate issues - On Call 24/7
- Record all information from these calls into the TMS on the specific order it pertains too and &/or keep record of this communication for future reference.
- Proactively address problems and suggest solutions. Do not just ask, “what do you want me to do”. It is our job to give solutions to issues, for our customers.
- Receive and dispatch orders to the appropriate resources to minimize empty miles and optimize revenues, enter the TMS any related data that may affect pricing and safe transportation of shipments, chargeable Accessorial such as wait times, detentions, layovers, and any delays or situations that may require situational notes. All these accessorial charges must be entered to support drivers pay and additional revenues to be charged to clients above the Tenders original price / Rate.
- Plan resources to fulfill these orders in an optimizing manner. Best resources for the orders.
- Assess situation, analyze, and prioritize workload to ensure full coverage is completed on a proactive manner. Planning 2-3 days ahead and having an alternative plan of action in mind.
- Oversee the routing of Company units and track Pick-up and delivery status of products with Drivers communication and advise, enter updated information on these P&D’s to reflect true and accurate information.
- Coordinate schedules in the most effective manner to maximize resource and capacities for all client orders.
- Inform Drivers about traffic situations that may assist them to achieve the P&D schedules.
- Track and update call logs, check Calls, and orders, and enter this data in software programs associated with the Customers orders. Client Web portals must be updated immediately upon information received for P&D, Delays, and possible issue concerns.
- Provide reports or situational data to upper management when required and other referenced data to support any claims made by clients.

**Dispatcher requirements**
- Minimum, (2) years of experience as a dispatcher in an asset-based Trucking company or similar position is necessary with Hwy Cross Border experience, Local and regional knowledge as well.
- Accurate typing skills, and accountable data entry is a must to ensure historical process of all orders and Invoicing charges
- Experience in Trucking TMS systems, data entry and computer literate in MS Office, TMS systems, GPS systems and other messaging Industry software as well as customs documentation and process.
- Hands on experience working in stressful, High Volume, and emergency situations with ability to provide a reasonable solution to almost any problem that arises for Drivers and/or Clients.
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills are a must
- Critical and risk management thinker with problem-solving skills providing solutions
- Solutions driven for every client and a developmental attitude of the relationship to maximize opportunities that may be available through specific clients.
- Team player - always working to assist other Team members to ensure efficient work is completed.

**Hours of your position are as follows.**
- Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily or until your tasks have been finished.
- Saturday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm; May be required as dictated by Clients needs and will be on an alternating schedule to facilitate any minor or major changes, meetings, and any alterations to planned trips, or to address any Drivers issues and make solutions to resolve these problems.
