The Employment Resources Consultant provides encouragement and helps members to clarify their personal needs, set goals and establish a focus in their quest of employment. The Employment Resources Consultant liaises with local employers to provide information and recruitment opportunities. The Employment Resources Consultant provides ad hoc assistance to members using the Resource Centre to find information and to conduct a self-directed job search.

**In this role, you will**:

- Welcome and greet participants; Assess and assist members with their employment needs and direct them to the appropriate service or programs; refer appropriate members to workshops and/or assisted services (employment counseling).
- Assist members with resources in the centre, e.g. computers, fax machines, photocopier, resource guides.
- Guide members on job search methodologies; provide resume critiques; provide sound knowledge of relevant legislation relating to employment and local labour market information and opportunities.
- Schedule and facilitate group workshops relating to job search; onsite and offsite out in the community.
- Conduct outreach to local employers for employment opportunities; up-date job boards with posting and co-ordinate job fairs.
- Enter information into database ensuring data quality; Maintain accurate data on a daily basis, ensuring participants sign in; Complete and review intake documentation with participant; Produces written and statistical reports on a monthly basis.
- Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
- Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

**You bring**:

- University Degree in a related field preferred or completion of a Community College Diploma (or equivalent experience) in Employment Counselling, Human Resources Management, Social Services or related field
- A minimum of two years related experience an asset;
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation relating to employment and local labour market opportunities
- Demonstrated knowledge of the local labour market and self-marketing techniques
- Superior presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to work in an efficient manner independently and as part of a team.
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Excellent written communication skills
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
- Proficient with Internet and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point
- Access to a motor vehicle is recommended, travel between two sites
- Flexibility regarding assigned schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends
