**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager and Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the MDR Resource Technician is responsible for implementing, organizing and maintaining equipment write-ups (SOP’s) for MDR patient care and OR surgical instrumentation & equipment. The Technician reviews Manufacturer's Instructions For Use literature in order to approve instrumentation and equipment to be purchased, orders and maintains implant inventory, liaises with the OR regarding equipment, supplies, pick tickets and scheduling issues, creates and updates item master back up list, updates procedure back-up maps and photographs new equipment/instruments for the write-ups.

All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturer’s instructions and departmental policies and procedures. The MDR Tech ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work as NSH such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Grade XII
- Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program
- Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certification or must successfully complete within 3 months of start date
- Minimum 3 years recent experience as Medical Device Reprocessing Technician
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Knowledge of systems such as SAP, PHS, SIMS and HSM/ASM
- Formal education in anatomy, medical terminology, microbiology, infection control preferred
- Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia preferred
- Knowledge of Infection Control measures and Routine Practices
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to problem solve
- An aptitude for tasks requiring manual dexterity and technical skill
- Computer experience
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Physical Demands: Repetitive bending, repetitive lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 30 pounds, repetitive pushing and pulling carts up to a maximum of 400 pounds. Constant standing and walking. Exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids and extreme heat and humidity as well as loud noise.
- Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration for a Medical Device Reprocessing in Training may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 14 months of employment (must submit proof of course enrollment within six weeks of being hired into the Medical Device Reprocessing in Training position).

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$21.79 - $24.67 Hourly
