**About the role**

Canadian Blood Services is looking for **a** **Casual Donor Care Associates** to join our dynamic Donor Centre Team in **Edmonton, Alberta.** In this role, you will perform assigned duties to assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components as well as other related functions in the Clinic Services department. You will provide safe and effective standards of service to all customers including donors, staff, and volunteers during each phase of the collection process. Key responsibilities include:
**Key responsibilities include**:

- Conducting donor registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and consent
- Assisting in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components, in accordance with health and safety standards, to provide life-saving treatments for Canadians
- Monitoring donors for safety and comfort, providing post donation care and instructions
- Preparing units, specimens and documents for the production site
- Assisting in set-up and tear down of equipment and supplies
- Promoting a positive donor experience through exceptional customer service and respect for donor privacy in a multi-disciplinary team environment

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of High School education or equivalent
- Completion of secondary education. Certification or training in Phlebotomy is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, volunteers and donors
- Ability to work variable shifts and travel on a regular basis for mobile clinics, including overnights
- Ability to focus to ensure safe processing and handling of products and following procedures
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and carry specimen boxes weighing up to 10kg
