**SUMMARY OF POSITION**: Reporting to the VP of Accounting at Zehr Group will be responsible for financial reporting deliverables, government remittances, and business performance analytics to help manage business risk and the overall financial performance of the company. The Controller will work closely with the senior and executive team ensuring a deep understanding of what drives the profitability of the company and providing financial visibility and guidance to anticipate risk and opportunities to the achievement of financial objectives.

**AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY - TASK DESCRIPTION**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage all aspects of financial reporting of the construction division. Responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial statements and coordination of year end activities with external accountants.
- Ensure all government remittances are filed timely and accurately.
- Manage the insurance needs for the construction division.
- Lead monthly financial analysis meetings with Project Managers to continuously analyze project financials and margins.
- Highlight any potential risks and opportunities to the VP of Accounting by presenting viable alternatives to proactively address any issues that will have a significant impact on project budgets and milestones or may negatively impact business strategic plan and operational performance. Work with VP of Accounting to translate current risk exposure into meaningful operational strategies and recommend process improvements to reduce costs, streamline work processes, and improve profitability.
- Support the VP of Accounting with the annual budget and strategic plan.
- Provide advice and input into policy and procedure development or revision.
- Monitor industry best practices, market trends, emerging processes, and technologies to achieve operational excellence and strategic financial performance of the group of companies.
- Implement improvement initiatives, taking the Zehr Group of Companies to new levels of performance using data-driven business recommendations.
- Create and implement change management strategies that maximize employee adoption and usage.
- Support the executive team with ad-hoc projects as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- Entrepreneurial, creative, inquisitive, and high-energy team player with excellent business acumen, strategic thinking, and change management skills
- Experience advising management on operational excellence and performance improvement initiatives taking companies to new levels of performance using data-driven business recommendations
- Able to deliver on special projects with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and to consistently meet deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
- University Degree & Accounting Designation
- At least 7-10 years of progressive business, finance, and reporting experience in a management role
- At least 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience within the real estate development industry
- Experience with advanced excel modelling, data analysis, and advanced presentation skills
- Critical thinking with the ability to see the big picture while demonstrating strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts & best practices in a clear and concise manner across all levels of the organization
- Able to take initiative and thrive on ownership and responsibility
