Helio Optometry is seeking an Optometric Assistant to join our team in Edmonton, AB.

**Job Summary**:
**An optometric assistant at Helio Optometry assists patients through every interaction they may have while in the clinic. Because our assistants are often the first and the last person a patient may engage with, they need to be friendly, professional**, **and knowledgeable members of our team.**

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Greet and assist patients and office visitors warmly and welcomingly.
- Accurately manage patient demographic, insurance, and personal information.
- Interact with patients to determine the motivation for their eye care visit and communicate their concerns to doctors and team members.
- Use pretesting, imaging, and diagnostic equipment to gather exam information.
- Utilize EMR, scheduling, point-of-sale, product ordering, and other software.
- Manage daily patient schedules with an emphasis on providing patient care on time.
- Create and curate social media and website content when required.
- Triage patient concerns and questions appropriately.
- Assist in keeping the clinic clean, stocked, organized, and orderly.
- Perform opening and closing duties as required.
- Recommend eye care products and eye care services.
- Coordinate patient referrals and follow-up care.
- Under the direction of the optometrists, opticians, and team members, complete additional projects, duties, or assignments as required or requested.

**Skills**:

- Previous eyecare or healthcare experience is helpful but is not required.
- A basic understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
- A basic understanding of insurance concepts is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate well with patients, co-workers, and management with honesty and kindness.
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward patients, coworkers, customers, and clients at all times
- Computer skills including Google (Sheets, Docs, etc) are required.
- Curious and interested.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Problem-solving and decision-making are an asset.

**Successful members of our team show up to their scheduled shifts on time and provide excellent patient care alongside the doctors, opticians**, **and assistants at Helio Optometry.**

**Salary**: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
