**SCOPE**

The Au Futur program has been a partnership and collaboration between Maison D'Haiti and the Jamaica Association of Montreal Inc since 1992. This program, which is funded by Public Health Canada. has as its main objective to support young, single Black mothers and the development of their child(ren). The incumbent is responsible for empowering young Black women to reach their personal goals by sharing pertinent information. It also has the aim of maximizing the women’s optimal development and that of their child(ren). The capacity of the program is 30 women between the ages of 15 and 35 years. The Coordinator has these main responsibilities:
**A. RECRUITMENT & NEEDS ASSESSMENT**
- Recruit qualified young mothers using various outreach methods;
- Encourage young mothers to participate in social reinsertion programs and in activities that help in the stimulation and development of their infants;
- Assess the needs of the mothers;
- Create individualized action plan for each participant by establishing short and long term achievable goals.
- Propose appropriate resources to help in the attainment of their plan;
- Provide information on services and resources that are relevant and important to young mothers collectively and individually;
**B. SUPPORT, GOAL SETTING & ASSISTANCE**
- Empower young mothers to take control of their lives and the quality of their lives through workshops, information sessions and meetings;
- Encourage young mothers to attend support groups with their children, if possible;
- Remain in contact with young mothers through telephone calls, home visits, accompaniment, one-to-one and group meetings, and networking events;
- Each woman in the Au Futur program can be followed for a maximum of 3 years as per the agreement. However, should circumstances allow, it may be that an additional time not exceeding a year will be allowed.

**C. CONSULTATION & ASSESSMENT**
- Inform young mothers about resources available to them in their neighbourhoods;
- Ensures the participation of young mothers in the in the follow-up programs for mothers and infants of Centre integrée universitaire services sociaux (CIUSS)
- Ensures that there is a good mother / child relation through the organizing stimulation activities and games workshops for parent and child;
- Create and organize public awareness workshops / activities highlighting the reality of early motherhood for young Black women;
- Maintain and develop links with partners and participate collaborative activities with agencies and institutions with similar mandates;
**Requirements**:

- Attestation of degree in Social Work or a related field with two to four years of pertinent work experience;
- Bilingual, with good spoken and written English and French
- Good knowledge of the resources available within Montreal for young mothers and their children;
- Ability to work with partners of the Au Futur Program to ensure successful outcomes;
- Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint (to work with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations);
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Displays and exhibits professionalism, compassion, good judgment, and maturity;
- Capable of working independently with confidential information;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the proven ability to prioritize tasks and work in a complex and fast-paced environment with mínimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of the Quebec and Canadian immigration rules surrounding immigrants and refugee claimants, an asset;
- Understands cultural communities in Montreal, an asset;
- Be able to work Mondays through Fridays inclusively (there may be a need to work be outside of these hours on occasion);

**Salary**: $20.00 per hour
