Under the supervision of the Director, Human Resources, administers effective Human Resources services by providing assistance and support to staff at all levels of the organization. The incumbent is responsible for the following key functions: Recruitment, benefits and pension administration, managing employee leaves, Health & Safety and takes a leadership role for Employee Wellness initiatives.

**RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES**:
The position is responsible for general Human Resources duties as it relates to supporting the department including but not limited to the following:

- Lead for the agency bargaining unit staff recruitment from vacancy to onboarding
- Benefits Administration including liaising with the benefits/pension contacts as required
- Management support including providing advice to Managers re: Collective Agreement language on a wide scope of topics
- Leave Management including short-term and long-term disability claims, and WSIB claims, return to work plans and employee accommodations, and tracking of such leaves and accommodations
- Responsible for tracking and following up on all employee injury reports and providing analysis to the HR Director, including handling of WSIB claims for work-related injuries
- Health and Safety Program - Joint Health and Safety Committee, Health & Safety training programs and Workplace Violence policy and investigation programs
- Knowledge of payroll and/or financial systems related to HR functions
- HR Quality reporting, including maintaining statistical records and analyzing results for inclusion in the HR and organizational scorecard
- Lead role for agency’s Psychological Health & Safety and Wellness Committee
- HRIS data integrity and reporting using HRIS software (BambooHR)
- Labour relations in conjunction with the HR team
- Develop and provide recommendations for policies and procedures within area of responsibility
- Represents the HR team and agency in a professional manner, and maintains good relationships with union officials and staff
- Other duties as assigned and which are within the scope of the position

**EDUCATION & SKILLS**:

- Business degree with specialization in HR or an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as Psychology with courses in Human Resources Management is required.
- CHRP designation is required. CHRL designation or CHRP designation working towards CHRL designation with the qualifications to obtain CHRL within one year is preferred.
- Joint Occupational Health and Safety Certification is a preferred asset.
- Three (3) years recent & relevant experience in a Human Resources Generalist position or similar
- Experience in a unionized environment and working with Collective Agreements is required.
- Experience working in health care or in a not-for profit or broader public sector would be an asset
- Comprehensive experience with the recruitment process and onboarding.
- Experience managing disability claims, developing return to work plans, managing pension and benefits functions.
- Knowledge of payroll and/or financial systems and how they interact with HR specifically around benefits.
- Experience with all aspects of recruitment and on boarding programs.
- Experience participating in Joint Health and Safety Committees, managing WSIB claims, Health & Safety training programs and Workplace Violence policy and investigation programs.
- Labour relations experience including support of managers in interpreting Collective Agreements, and disciplinary processes.
- Experience or participation with Wellness programming and committees.
- Ability to work with Human Resources Information Systems, including running reports, and analysing results.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR practices and related legislation.
- Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, HRIS databases and the ability to develop charts, graphs and presentations as required.
- Experience using BambooHR as a Full Admin user would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and manage a diverse and heavy workload.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills to manage contentious or sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
- Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset for all agency positions.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and own means of transportation are required.

**Hours of Work**: Thirty-Five (35) hour work week. The agency’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexible hours are required to meet service needs.

**Salary range**: $64,822 - $79,500 annually.

Compensation within the range will be based on the experience of the incumbent.

**Compensation includes a competitive and comprehensive Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), vacation and sick leave package.**
