The Orientation, Training, and Safety Coordinator at Cedars Recovery, reporting to the HR Manager, is pivotal in aligning our operations with the organization's mission, culture, and vision. This role encompasses welcoming and orienting new staff to their roles while ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines and protecting patient rights. Through engagement with staff, the Coordinator fosters a culture of safety and quality improvement, emphasizing a patient-centered approach. Overall, the Coordinator plays a critical role in upholding Cedars Recovery's commitment to excellence and compassionate care.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Fostering a Positive Work Environment**:

- **Maintaining Policy Compliance**: Stay abreast of Cedars policies and procedures as outlined in organizational manuals, ensuring adherence across all staff members.
- **Collaborating for Safety**: Work closely with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee and the HR Manager to guarantee that Cedars facilities maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff and patients.
- **Developing Training Programs**: Continuously update and improve training programs, including the revision of training manuals and other related organizational documents as necessary to ensure staff competency.
- **Conducting Orientations**: Utilize orientation checklists to efficiently orient all new staff members to Cedars, collaborating with the HR Manager to develop a standardized yet adaptable orientation program covering general policies, procedures, and expectations.
- **Flexibility and Scheduling**: Maintain flexibility with scheduling to ensure timely completion of orientations and training sessions as needed.
- **Scheduling Role-Specific Training**: Work in tandem with the HR Manager to arrange role-specific training courses, such as First Aid, Non-Violent Communication Workshops, and Indigenous Safety Training, among others.
- **Tracking Training Records**: Establish and maintain a digital record of staff organizational training records, including tracking certification renewal dates to ensure compliance.

**Health, Safety, and Emergency Preparedness**:

- **Occupational Health and Safety Committee Involvement**: Act as the Co-Chair worker representative on the OHS Committee, actively contributing to discussions and initiatives related to health and safety in the workplace.
- **Emergency Preparedness Drills**: Collaborate with Cedars Management and the OHS Committee to schedule and execute emergency preparedness drills at least quarterly, ensuring staff readiness in the event of emergencies.
- **Incident Investigation and Reporting**: Conduct thorough investigations into safety incidents as required, documenting outcomes, and proposing actionable solutions to mitigate future risks.
- **Staff Participation Tracking**: Maintain records of staff attendance during emergency drills, ensuring all employees participate annually to enhance preparedness.
- **Hygiene Audits**: Regularly perform hand hygiene audits for staff, meticulously documenting results to identify areas for improvement.
- **First Aid Administration**: Be prepared to administer first aid in the event of emergencies, providing immediate assistance to individuals in need.

**Supporting Operations Department**:

- **Chairing the Cedars Social Committee**: Take the lead in organizing team-building events and activities as Chair of the Cedars Social Committee, managing an annual budget allocated for committee events effectively.
- **Newsletter Development**: Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to craft a weekly staff newsletter, keeping all team members informed and engaged.
- **Participation in Meetings and Workshops**: Attend staff meetings and personal/professional development workshops as requested, actively contributing insights and expertise.
- **Additional Duties**: Undertake any other related duties as assigned by supervisors, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in supporting organizational needs.
- **Quarterly Site Inspections**: Ensure that quarterly site inspections are completed, coordinating schedules and assigning tasks to staff members accordingly.
- **Meeting Management**: Prepare meeting agendas in advance, ensure items are followed up on, take meeting minutes, and distribute relevant documents to attendees.
- **Collaboration with Department Managers**: Consistently collaborate with managers from different departments to provide education and information aimed at bridging gaps in safety and operational knowledge across the organization.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
