Job Reports To: Education Outreach Program Coordinator

**Key Activities**:
A central component of NAC Indigenous Theatre’s values is to acknowledge and honour that we work on unceded Algonquin Anishinabeg territory. As a means of thanking our hosts for sharing their lands, water and stories with us, we commit to maintaining meaningful partnerships with Algonquin Anishinabeg communities with the support of the NAC Algonquin Advisory Committee and through direct interaction with community members in outreach programs and artistic and cultural collaborations. With one foot in community and one foot on the stage, we approach our work humbly as we attempt to represent the diversity and proudness of the many Indigenous Nations across this land, knowing and acknowledging these communities, their artists and their stories encompass a wide range of geographies, practices, traditions, generations and genders.
Working with the Cultural Resident, the Education Outreach Program Coordinator will provide the selected individual an entry level opportunity to work within the theatre industry with a community focus, particularly aimed at youth.

The Education Outreach Program Coordinator will be involved in both the marketing and the execution of activities relating to our youth engagement programs:

They will assist in developing a list of Indigenous teaching artists; identifying relevant contacts to disseminate the information; formulating the schedule and content for monthly outreach and engagement activities for the duration of the contract. The programming will include activities such as craft and artistic workshops (beading, drum making, moccasins making), artists’ talks and organizing distance learning through digital engagement.

**Skill Requirements**:

- High school diploma;
- Experience working with and/or in First Nations, Métis and Inuit storytelling, performance, dance, theatre, music and other forms of artistic expression that honour culturally specific knowledges, languages, territories and experiences;
- Ability and willingness to share Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing with Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and organizations to effect change, and understanding and respecting cultural protocols in undertaking this work;
- Knowledge of the arts and working with youth are assets;
- A strong interest in marketing, communications, and/or non-profit management, particularly in a performing arts setting;
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
- Attention to detail, precision and adaptability;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Must be able to maintain discretion and absolute confidentiality at all times;
- Ability to follow directions and work with limited supervision;
- Ability to communicate in both official languages (English and French) is an asset.
