**Position Description**:
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is Canada’s leading paediatric hospital, located in downtown Toronto. SickKids continually strives to be a leader in healthcare and is currently undergoing a phased strategic capital planning initiative to redevelop and transform the SickKids campus to support the future delivery of world class paediatric healthcare, teaching and research.

SickKids’ Facilities Development department is seeking an experienced healthcare **Project Manager** with the personal, planning and technical skills, and construction knowledge required to successfully deliver redevelopment / construction projects for the organization.

**Here’s What You’ll Do**

The role will require an incumbent with good communication skills, leadership, negotiation skills, ambition, drive, team management and time management traits that would provide effective skills within your role to execute your projects and initiatives and predict outcomes ahead of completion. SickKids is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate project manager that is committed to their goals within their role and will manage with a can-do attitude. Your role will require you to be an efficient project manager with the capabilities of solving problems, either with the team or individually; with support from the Director, or other leaders within the portfolio, as required. An effective Project Manager within this role will require you to plan effectively; ensuring that the work is coordinated, organized and completed in an efficient manner.
- The Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects, which may run simultaneously, with varying degrees of complexity, size and budget in an academic healthcare organization. The role is one which requires a multidisciplinary understanding of healthcare and research planning, design and building construction. From the inception of a project until the final completion, the Project Manager oversees the coordination between the various disciplines of the project to ensure that the product meets the user’s functional requirements, the project schedule and project budget.
- The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of a project life cycle from project initiation, planning, design, implementation through to closure, ensuring that all deliverables are achieved on schedule, efficiently, safely and within budget. The Project Manager needs to have a thorough understanding of planning, design, building sciences, infrastructure systems and construction along with the effects that each system and program has on the architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical elements within the building. The Project Manager uses this advanced level of understanding to translate the user’s requirements into design and technical directives for the design disciplines, vendors and construction trades.
- The Project Manager works collaboratively with a wide variety of senior and executive level hospital leaders and project stakeholders to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met and are in alignment with the Hospital’s mission, vision and values and strategic directions.
- The Project Manager deals with offsite leased space tenants and landlords with regards to operational and capital issues to support the Director.
- The Project Manager deals with space utilization and evaluation.
- The Project Manager works with other members of the Facilities Planning and Development (FPD) team on a variety of projects, tasks or initiatives. In some cases, other members of the team provide a support role to the PM. In other cases, the PM will provide a support role. The PM may also be part of a larger team managed by a lead PM or Project Director (from within the department or from other departments) and will support the lead PM or Project Director.
