**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Communicative Disorders Assistant is a full-time contract position (until March 2025) that provides a range of high-quality intervention services to children eligible for service through Preschool Speech and Language Program (PSL) with the purpose helping children achieve their optimal communication potential. The CDA provides support and coaching to caregivers to become effective partners in promoting their child’s communication skills.

**_ Salary range:_** _$58,001 to $67,543 per annum_

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Under the clinical supervision of a speech-language pathologist, provide a range of high-quality clinical services to children from birth to school entry, and their caregivers, to support and promote the development of the children’s communication skills:

- provide direct intervention on an individual or group basis, both of which include parent coaching components
- lead educational workshops for parents/ caregivers and on pertinent speech and language topics
- develop speech and language therapy materials
- where appropriate, recommend and refer clients to community programs
- Document client performance in the form of progress notes and treatment summary reports
- Under the clinical supervision of a speech-language pathologist, communicate with other persons working with the child and/or family.
- Deliver Preschool Speech and Language Program services within the local community to ensure easily accessible, high-quality services to our clients, and to build community capacity for promoting speech and language development and early identification of communication delays.
- Complete all job-related administrative duties in a timely manner.
- Liaise with PSL staff from other geographic services areas and other Strides staff to participate in the development and promotion of PSL initiatives.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities to ensure provision of up-to-date service delivery approaches.
- Actively participate in implementing the organization’s policy on health and safety program.

**THE “MUST HAVES”**

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

- A Bachelor’s degree or a Community College Diploma.
- Communicative Disorders Assistant graduate certificate.
- 3-6 months experience in preschool communication delays and disorders, including receptive and expressive language delay, speech production difficulties, motor speech disorders, AAC and/or social communication differences.
- Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
- Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
- An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
- Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

**THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’**
- Experience conducting both in-person and virtual therapy
- Fluency in another language(s)
