**Location** - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person with on-site work primarily taking place at Enterprise Square, Edmonton.

**Position Summary**

**Duties**

As a Research Systems Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of our Institutional Data Warehouse (IDW) and contribute significantly to the transition from an on premise data warehouse to the cloud, particularly within the Azure environment. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, you will be responsible for building new information products and solutions. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you maintain comprehensive specifications, including detailed textual methodology, entity relationship models, data dictionaries, and taxonomies

Data Analysis and Reporting:

- Analyze data to discern trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Create and maintain business intelligence reports and dashboards for key stakeholders.
- Provide insightful perspectives on business performance based on data analysis

Querying and Programming:

- Write SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data from the data warehouse.
- Utilize programming languages, such as Python, R, or others, for data analysis and manipulation.

Data Modeling and Design:

- Possess functional knowledge of industry-standard data design and management principles.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of the data warehouse schema.
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects to optimize data models for performance.

Data Quality Assurance:

- Implement and maintain data quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Identify and address data quality issues and inconsistencies.

Collaboration with Stakeholders:

- Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Collaborate with business users to define and refine analytical requirements.

Ad Hoc Analysis:

- Conduct ad hoc analysis in response to specific business questions or challenges.
- Provide on-demand support for data-related inquiries.

Continuous Learning:

- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to data analytics and data warehousing.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computing Science, Statistics, Management Information Systems or related fields; equivalent combinations of education and experience would be considered.
- Preferred experience in data warehouse development, with particular attention to extraction, transformation and loading operations.
- Knowledge of data warehousing principles and cloud technology.
- Ability to define, propose and use Measures, Metrics, KPIs and KRIs.
- Excellent knowledge of programming and database management/operations.
- Advanced programming skills in SQL.
- Excellent problem solving and investigative skills.
- Excellent time management, including accurate preliminary estimates of project time expectations.
