Toronto, Canada St. Michael's Family Medicine Associates Full time

The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the business operations of St. Michael’s Family Medicine Associates, a partnership of ~80+ physicians, ensuring the efficient and effective management of financial, operational, and administrative activities. The Business Manager will work closely with the Treasurer, business office, the Partnership Business Committee, physician partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for achieving the partnership's goals and objectives.

**Reports to**:

- Treasurer, St. Michael's Family Medicine Associates
- Chair of Partnership Business Committee, St. Michael's Family Medicine Associates
- Chief of St. Michael’s Hospital Department of Family and Community Medicine

**Key Responsibilities** include but may not be limited to:
1. Financial Management
- Oversee the development and management of the partnership's budget and financial reporting systems.
- Monitor financial performance and develop strategies for improving profitability and reducing costs.
- Ensure legal compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Establish the overall annual budget for the partnership.
- Handle day-to-day accounting, including maintaining the general ledger and ensuring all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable requirements are performed on-time.
- Provides direction to payroll consultant in consultation with the Treasurer.
- Review bank accounts and balance sheets and perform reconciliations as needed.
- Create, review, and record journal entries and monthly reconciliations.

2. Operational Management
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective management of partnership activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards.
- Monitor operational performance and develop strategies for improving efficiency and effectiveness.

3. Business Development
- Analyze and interpret financial data to provide strategic insights and recommendations to the Partnership Business Committee. Partners with the Treasurer on key activities.
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships that align with the partnership's goals and objectives.
- Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physician partners, vendors, and patient.
- Attend monthly Partnership Business Committee Meetings, weekly meetings with Treasurer and FHO Manager, and with SMFMA accountants at least twice yearly for year-end compilation and reconciliation of partnership tax documents

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or related field; CPA Designation preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in healthcare administration or business management.
- Experience in financial statement preparation and accounting systems, operational management, and business development.
- High degree of proficiency with QuickBooks and MS Office programs, especially Excel
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements is an asset.
