**JOB OVERVIEW: Manager, Research and Design (RAD) Partnership**

This role reports to the Dean, Wilson School of Design. Reporting directly to this position is an Administrative Assistant and all casual service employees and student assistants related to research.

The Manager, Research and Design Partnership provides leadership and direction to identify, secure, and support applied design research partnerships and processes and work-integrated learning experiences for the Wilson School of Design (WSD). The incumbent will engage across many industries, departments, and government agencies to guide the development of an outreach strategy to develop new industry and community relationships, expand existing partnerships, and manage project deliverables.

The incumbent promotes the capabilities of WSD faculty, students, and staff to potential industry and community partners and will serve as the main lead and point of contact for all research project key players. This role works in close collaboration with the WSD faculty chair(s) of the research and design centre (RAD) and other members of KPU Office of Research Services.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor Degree in Design and/or Business-related disciplines or academic credentials and experience appropriate to areas of responsibility;
- Minimum 5 years of project management, research management, team supervision, and/or relevant industry experience;
- Holds up-to date (2022+) TCPS-2 Ethics certification;
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**COMPETENCIES**
- Proven experience developing strong partnership with industry, community, and levels of government.
- Industry, labour market and economic forecasting knowledge across Canada.
- Strong understanding of post-secondary operations as it relates to research.
- Experience in developing promotional strategies including webinars, conference presentations, newsletter content, and social media posts.
- Demonstrated team leadership and the ability to engage and motivate employees, to work collaboratively as an effective team player with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple projects in a rapidly changing environment, effectively prioritizing work to meet departmental goals.
- Demonstrated innovation and change management skills which include supporting and encouraging new ideas and approaches to build organizational efficiency.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial government funding agencies which have detailed policies, guidelines, and procedures with which applicants must comply to secure and maintain funding.
- Proven ability to deal with sensitive situations that call for the use of diplomacy, tact and professionalism in the delivery of information and explanations.
- Superior judgment to guide colleagues, discretion and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to travel between campuses is required. Provincial, and national travel may be required.

**Salary Information**

The compensation range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary (as listed above) for a position. Approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and approximately halfway of the salary range for a job. Annual salary increases are available through participation in the Administrative Performance Management program
