**_Are you interested in becoming our next Network Specialist II?_**

In this position, your primary focus is supporting wired switching, wireless and Collaboration Suite for all school networks by troubleshooting network performance to the Data Centre and Internet.

You will be responsible for regular maintenance, documentation, and standardization of the networks for all sites and school Local Area Networks (LAN). Given the impact of the position, we are looking for a Network Specialist with strong troubleshooting skills and an understanding of the fundamentals of switching. In addition, you will be responsible for configuring wireless deployments, and Radio Frequency site surveys within Division networks and maintain Supernet connectivity.

**_Responsibilities_**
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot wireless authentication system and wireless monitoring system for the division. Also maintaining the current system, security, and hardware to ensure stability and backup.

- Support, configure, maintain, and upgrade network devices
- Monitor and troubleshoot network availability and performance.
- Review alerts and notifications from monitoring systems and diagnose issues.
- Perform in a timely response technical support to incidents, requests, outages, and alerts.
- Participate in network planning, design, and future growth of the network.
- Analyze technical and operational problems. Work with internal technical teams and/or vendor to resolve problems.
- Perform scheduled network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Develop and maintain the documentation to ensure changing requirements and technologies are captured and communicated.
- Assist in capacity planning networking devices procurement and support renewal.
- Research identify, evaluate, and asses new technology for the division requiring the incumbent to be abreast of ever-changing system technologies.
- Provide a supporting role in Data Centre activities and configuration adds moves and changes.
- Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional activities.

**_Qualifications_**
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in network administration or related field.
- Cisco Certification, CCNA or equivalent industry certification.
- In-depth Knowledge of system security standards and procedures.
- Good working knowledge of Cisco IOS to maintain, design, secure routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Good working knowledge of Aruba ClearPass, Aruba Airwave, and Cisco collaboration suite.
- Good working knowledge of the core networking protocols including TCP, UDP, DNS, TLS, DHCP, and certificates.
- Knowledge of VLAN’s, IP Routing and Layer 3 and 4 switching and routing.
- Understanding of network management systems (e.g.: Cisco infrastructure, Aruba Airwave, Cisco Collaboration.
- Understanding of routing protocols BGP, OSPF, IP, Quality of Service, DiffServ, MPLS, network traffic analysis and shaping.
- Knowledge of project management principles, information management principles and practices including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Legislation.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Knowledge of the Division’s and department policies, business and operations of the educational system.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to influence decision-making and recommend alternatives or courses of action.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present complex technical solutions to large audiences.
