We are seeking a Network Enterprise Specialist to join our team and provide technical expertise and leadership to our organization. In this role you will be supporting the Data Centre’s core switching/routing, Internet services, Division Network Wide Area Network, Network Security, Divisions Cisco VoIP, and Schools.
As a Network Enterprise Specialist, you will ensure that the division provides timely, reliable, highly available, and cost-effective network services on a division-wide basis. The successful person in this position will help design and architect new network designs and security practices while continuously improving all aspects of network connectivity to meet changing global standards and Division requirements. In addition, this position must perform network capacity planning, which includes wired and wireless for local schools, Supernet and Internet services and is ultimately responsible for resolving all network-related problems to ensure uninterrupted networking and VoIP services.

**Job Responsibilities Include**:
- Work with interested parties to identify, recommend, design, and implement technical solutions in support of Division initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership in areas of expertise while participating on project teams to design and implement solutions that deliver solutions to address identified needs.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for all mission-critical systems and data, documenting instructions, and procedures to ensure rapid reliable recovery in the event of a system failure.
- Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced staff and prepare written instructions to aid staff in understanding. Seek opportunities to improve processes, products, and services by identifying opportunities where information technology may assist in the resolution.
- Resolve complex high-priority escalated problems by interfacing with staff, clients and/or vendors to diagnose and correct network-related problems.
- Manage the enterprise environment for the purpose of maintaining capacity planning, and documentation.
- Upgrade, tune, and troubleshoot problems related to all systems located in the Division’s data centre.
- Monitor the Division’s enterprise information systems to identify potential problems or bottlenecks.
- Assist in capacity planning networking devices procurement and support renewal.
- Manage network access and security focusing on protecting private or confidential data from unauthorized access and protecting the privacy of individuals.
- Provide coverage for during unit staff’s absences.
- Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional activities.
- Provide guidance and advice in area of technical expertise on project teams.
**Qualifications Include**:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in network administration or related field.
- Cisco Certification, CCNP or equivalent industry certification.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting all issues of the Data Centre including routing problems including OSPF, BGP and MPLS.
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS and configuration.
- Awareness of security threats and vulnerabilities.
- In-depth working knowledge of wireless networks and wireless security.
- In-depth working knowledge of Cisco, Fortinet, and Meraki firewalls.
- Working knowledge of Cisco collaboration, contact centre, unity, CER, VB Scripting/PowerShell.
- Knowledge of project management principles, information management principles and practices including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Legislation
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to influence decision-making and recommend alternatives or courses of action.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present complex technical solutions to large audiences.
