**Objective**: The EMR Specialist is a member of the Business Excellence Team and works with physicians, clinic managers, EWPCN clinical staff, and the Clinical Excellence Team. The EMR Specialist acts as an EMR expert for EWPCN physician member clinics. The EMR Specialist uses their skillset to optimize clinic EMRs to enable efficient clinical practice, quality patient care, and accurate data collection. The EMR Specialist supports quality improvement teams to work towards the overall goal of ensuring a high quality of evidenced based healthcare to the EWPCN’s patient population.

With a mission to support family physicians in improving primary care through relationships, collaboration and innovation, Primary Care Networks (PCN) are groups of family doctors who work with other health professionals to coordinate the comprehensive delivery of primary care services for their patients. Our team of health professionals include Nurses, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Behavioural Health Consultants, Social Workers and Exercise Specialists who collaborate to provide comprehensive primary care services for the community.

**Qualifications**:

- High School diploma, Medical Office Assistant Diploma, or other healthcare related diploma or degree (e.g. Health Information Management Diploma, data analytics).
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and/or reliable transportation is required for travel between clinics or worksites.

**Previous Experience**:

- 3+ years experience working in a health care environment, primary care experience is an asset.
- Advanced experience using EMRs to customize forms or templates, develop workflows, and create queries.
- Experience troubleshooting EMR issues and identifying solutions.
- Advanced Health Quest and Med Access EMR experience is required. Experience with other EMRs an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams)
- Experience or formal training in quality improvement is an asset.
- Experience working as a clinic manager is an asset.
- Understand the Alberta privacy laws and act according to those laws.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Deliverables**:

- Develop professional, trusting relationships with all stakeholders (including Clinical Excellence Team, EWPCN clinical staff, clinic managers, physicians and clinic staff and Managers of Clinical Services).
- Leading conversations with different stakeholders within the organization to understand their needs and provide solutions/recommendations.
- Act as an EMR expert for physician member clinics and the Clinical Excellence Team
- Using your own EMR skills, build new solutions or optimize existing ones to meet customer needs.
- Support business and clinical excellence by optimizing the EMR to improve both end-user experience and data quality.
- Increase the standardization of EMR use across central programs.

**Collaboration and Customer Service**
- Build capacity for EMR utilization and best practices.
- Work as part of a team to identify and implement solutions.
- Stay up to date with EMR best practices and functionality.

**Evaluation and Reporting**
- Use EMR knowledge to build data collection tools in the EMR in alignment with EWPCN reporting requirements.
- Build and maintain report queries in the EMR to enable reporting on required data elements.
- Build EMR infrastructure to enable outreach screening in clinics (search queries, reports, task management).
