**Project Management and Business Development Specialist**:
**Primary Purpose**:To serve as liaison between the Canadian Feed Research Centre (CFRC), Department of Animal and Poultry Science (APS), and the feed and bioprocessing value chain.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Research Chair in Feed Processing Technology, the incumbent will lead the CFRC in technology transfer activities, seek out and coordinate service contracts and will be a primary contact for feed related inquiries. The incumbent will liaise between the CFRC, APS and bioprocessing, livestock and crop commodity groups; manage projects which lead to regulatory approval of new products for Industry; and serve as administrative assistant to the Advisory Board for the CFRC. Work is eclectic and requires innovative thinking and sound judgment. Effective relationship-building and communication skills are imperative. Location of day-to-day activities would be focused at the CFRC (North Battleford) and the Department of Animal and Poultry Science (University of Saskatchewan Campus), as well as travel throughout Western Canada.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
There are three broad areas of accountability for this position, including:

- Facilitating a strong network between research, industry and/or regulatory partners to coordinate cross-disciplinary approaches to feed industry growth. This will include strengthening capacity to address questions with respect to potential markets or regulatory compliance as well as providing project management for investigations of novel feed ingredients, additives and processes.
- Facilitate contract development, securing the required expertise and managing resources to support industrial clients.
- Become the lead contact for regulatory compliance.
- Deliver complete and secure compliance documentation supported by Good Laboratory Practices.
- Efficiently and effectively provide technology transfer of research to end-users and increase the visibility of the CFRC and APS.
- Translation and distribution of research findings in consumable formats.
- Provide a web-face that meets the expectations of researchers, industry and the public.
- Coordinate tours of the CFRC that provide productive outcomes for increasing interest and support for research, improving technology adaptation and promoting public understanding.
- Manage and provide administrative support to the CFRC advisory board (Canadian and International representation) responsible for assessment of research, teaching and technology transfer; including review and interaction with Feed Research Chairs, the CFRC and APS. This will involve effectively managing funds, budget preparations and reports.

**Education**: M.Sc. degree in animal science or bioprocessing. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

**Licenses**: Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

**Skills**: Demonstrated leadership competencies; strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills; a demonstrated understanding of animal nutrition and feeds R&D and commercialization with industry partners; technical knowledge of feeds and feeding programs, and feeds processing for ruminants and non-ruminants; ability to lead and facilitate team work is critically important; knowledge of good laboratory practices; effective literature searching and report writing skills.
