LCS Summer Academy is currently recruiting for a Junior Day Camp Coordinator to join our team.

With 144 years of outdoor education experience, LCS Summer Academy provides fun and challenging programs for campers ages 6 to 18. Each program is full of opportunities to learn in and through the outdoors on our 315-acre waterfront campus. We believe strongly in nurturing the development of the whole person by focusing on community-minded leadership, character education, and environmental sustainability.

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director, LCS Summer Academy, the Junior Day Camp Coordinator (JDCC) will prepare and deliver five, 4- or 5-day sessions of the LCS Junior Day Camp program from July 31 to September 1, 2023. The JDCC will help to establish a safe and fun camp experience and will ensure the necessary personnel and staffing are assigned to each group for supervision.

**Position Responsibilities**:
Design and deliver LCS Junior Day Camp. Responsibilities include:

- Be available each program day from 8:00 a.m. until after all junior day campers leave (requested departure time is 4:30 p.m.) and a debrief is done with the day camp counsellors
- Daily management of Junior Day Camp Program
- Develop daily program
- Complete weekly overview schedule to be approved each week by the Director, Summer Academy
- Delivery of daily programming (in-person with the campers)
- Coordinate with technical experts for activities like climbing, canoeing, sailing, etc.
- Training and oversight of junior counsellors and counsellors working in Junior Day Camp (including: creating and leading staff training week for Junior Day Camp staff, daily communication, coordination, training, support, ongoing feedback, daily debriefs, and evaluations)
- Daily parent communication
- In collaboration with marketing team, write weekly updates and social media content
- Liaise with Director, Summer Academy to ensure program alignment with summer academy vision
- Liaise with Director, Summer Academy with any problems that arise in staffing, or with campers
- Assist with training of staff for Junior Day Camp program
- Review policies/procedures as they relate to Junior Day Camp

**Education and Experience**:

- Completed Undergrad Degree or Diploma
- Current Certification for Standard First Aid & CPR C
- Must have experience designing and delivering programs to this age group (ages 5 through 10)
- Evidence of leadership and innovation, strong organization and communication skills, ability to meet and enforce deadlines, experience in program development
- Bronze Cross*
- NLS or equivalent an asset*
- ORCKA Flatwater Basic Instructor certification an asset
- Preference given to a certified teacher with Primary/Junior Qualifications
