LCS Summer Academy is currently recruiting for Camp Coordinators to join our team.

**Organizational Overview**:Founded in 1879, Lakefield College School is a leader among Canada’s independent boarding and day schools and prides itself on its reputation for providing a strong, caring community, a well-rounded program, and a transformational student experience on one of the largest waterfront campuses in the country. Of our total student population of 425, we have 280+ students who live on campus, coming from over 45 countries. LCS is a coeducational high school committed to its mission of challenging and enabling students to reach their individual potential in mind, body, and spirit.
With 144 years of outdoor education experience, LCS Summer Academy provides fun and challenging programs for campers ages 6 to 18. Each program is full of opportunities to learn in and through the outdoors on our 315-acre waterfront campus. We believe strongly in nurturing the development of the whole person by focusing on community-minded leadership, character education, and environmental sustainability.

**Responsibilities**:
Working with the other members of the Summer Academy & Programs Team, the Camp Coordinator(s) will be responsible for the following:

- Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of students and fellow staff
- Develop and implement activities for children and youth (ages ranging from 6-18)
- Participate in all aspects of day-to-day camp
- Oversee student experiences within the camp environment
- Set up and prepare all activities within their area of responsibility. Areas of responsibility include any of the following: climbing and ropes course, arts and crafts, waterfront, farming, wilderness, and sports and fitness.
- Ensure the necessary personnel and staffing are assigned to their activity area to support
- Develop and deliver an activity program appropriate to the age of the students on campus at any given time
- Communicate and liaise with the other coordinators to ensure efficient staffing at each of the locations
- Work closely with the Manager and Coordinator, Outdoors Every Day to ensure equipment is kept up-to-date and personnel are in place for each program day within their area of responsibility
- When students are at other areas aside from their own, they will support those other activities (if needed).
- Additional responsibilities in assisting with evening camp programming and activities as well as residential responsibilities overseeing a group of counsellors and campers within an assigned house.
- Communicate instructions for the area of responsibility to counsellors and campers, communicate to managers and communications staff regarding any needs to ensure smooth operation
- Listen to campers and counsellors’ feedback and make adjustments as needed
- Communicate goals and participate in regular reflective feedback sessions.
- Interacting with campers and parents at drop off and pick up, bringing enthusiasm and excitement for the campers; working with campers on a daily basis to build professional and supportive relationships.
- Take initiative to ensure campers feel welcome and included and to provide campers with lots of opportunities for fun and games outside of the specifically scheduled program times.
- Creating a comfortable, respectful, and fun residential community, while uploading the rules and values of the community
- Supporting students in their studies, including completing check-ins and supervision during evening Study Hall
- Providing House Life Coordinators with daily updates on student well-being and behaviour
- Following and upholding all policies and procedures related to residential life at LCS
- Working with the fellow staff to ensure prompt attention to any medical/health concerns
- Daily attendance taking and meal checks
- Waterfront activities (SUP, sailing, swimming, canoeing, etc.)
- Outdoor campus activities (e.g., high & low ropes, climbing wall, tennis, beach volleyball)
- Northcote activities (e.g., wilderness skills, regenerative farming skills)

**Education and Experience**:

- Post-Secondary Education or equivalent
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Qualifications or experience in a residential camp or school setting
- Experience with teaching English Language Learners considered an asset
- Current certifications/qualifications (or received by the time they arrive at camp) in the following:

- Standard First Aid and CPR C/AED (required)
- Bronze Cross Certification (required); NLS certification preferred
- Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator License an asset
- Mental Health First Aid or equivalent an asset
- Ropes course and climbing wall certifications an asset
- ORCKA Instructor certifications an asset
- ESL experience an asset
