LCS Summer Academy is currently recruiting for a House Life Coordinator to join our team.**Organizational Overview**:

With 144 years of outdoor education experience, LCS Summer Academy provides fun and challenging programs for campers ages 6 to 18. Each program is full of opportunities to learn in and through the outdoors on our 315-acre waterfront campus. We believe strongly in nurturing the development of the whole person by focusing on community-minded leadership, character education, and environmental sustainability.

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director, LCS Summer Academy, the House Life Coordinator(s) (HLC) will oversee and implement all programming related to the campers’ residential experience, including ensuring appropriate overnight supervision. The HLC will help to establish a safe and fun overnight camp experience and will ensure the necessary personnel and staffing are assigned to each house for supervision during the evenings and overnight. During their time on duty, the HLC will participate and engage in activities, get to know the campers, facilitate programming, and engage and check in with other staff. The HLC will ensure efficient staffing at each of the locations for evening programming and overnight responsibilities, and will provide additional supervision and support when and where needed. In addition, they will liaise with any program leads if any difficulties arise with campers.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- House protocol development, implementation and oversight (in consultation with the Director, LCS Summer Academy)
- Personnel training and oversight for residential responsibilities
- Regular camper (student) interaction and instruction
- Interaction and connecting with parents of campers
- Emergency on-call throughout the periods on duty for the full 24 hours
- Weekend excursion travel required when on duty
- Staff wellbeing events
- Must live on campus (and while on duty be present on campus)
- Act as a senior member of the Summer Academy Team (including: daily communication, coordination, training, support, ongoing feedback, daily debriefs, and evaluations)

**Education and Experience**:

- Completed Undergrad Degree or Diploma
- Current Certification for Standard First Aid & CPR C
- Mental Health First Aid
- Ability to work with and instruct teenagers
- Personal qualities: camper-centred, collaborative, caring, enthusiastic, solution-oriented, strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational and communication skills
- Full “G” class license

**Not required, but would be considered an asset**:

- Experience working in overnight settings (summer camps, boarding school, etc.)
- Bronze Cross or NLS
- Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator’s License
- Second language proficiency and ESL experience

**Contract Dates**:
June 22 to September 1, 2023 working a 3/3 schedule (3 days on, 3 days off), including overnight responsibility and activities throughout the day plus all initial training days. (Totals 34 work days).
