**WMRCC OVERVIEW**:
**Women’s Multicultural Resource and Counselling Centre of Durham (WMRCC) is a registered charitable organization, dedicated to providing trauma informed counselling and programs to women of all ages, youth and children from diverse backgrounds to live a life free of violence and to become economically empowered. The organization works from intersectionality of gender-based violence and other forms of oppressions based on social location.**

- **Ontario Black Youth Action Plan, Enhanced Youth Outreach Worker/Clinical Counsellor **works as a part of the Youth Outreach Worker team. The clinical counsellor expands the continuum of services of the Program by providing intensive one-on-one support and clinical counselling to high-risk Black youth and youth from diverse backgrounds ages 12 to 25 (Male and female) and their families in Durham Region to prevent youth from further risk and exposure to violence and trauma.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Delivering culturally sensitive counselling and support services to Black youth in crisis, helping them to address their specific challenges by using “Collective Impact and Cultural Identity (C12).
- Encouraging and supporting youth by referring them to access a wide range of community services.
- Developing case management and assessment plan for Black youth, in partnership with the Youth Outreach Workers.
- Collaborating with other community partners to meet the service needs of Black youth and their families in Durham Region.
- Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively and negotiate effectively with a range of community groups and service providers across sectors.
- Collaborating with the Youth Outreach Workers to identify Black youth who may require additional support and work with the Youth Outreach Workers to align support services for at risk Black youth.
- Identifying Black youth needs, goals, aspirations, skills, and abilities.
- Building resiliency, pro-social skills, and other protective factors.
- Supporting them with additional risk factors and challenges such as poor mental health due to Anti-Black racism, intergenerational trauma and other lived experiences.
- Conducting outreach in the community with partners and stakeholders; including Black youth and their families.
- Organizing community events, workshops, training and outings in collaboration with the Youth Outreach Workers.
- Maintaining program and participants information records and statistics, records and reports; ensure timely data collection and recording of all encounters, electronically and manually.
**Cultural Experience**:
- Strong understanding of the unique needs of Black youth who may be experiencing challenges that relate to **anti-Black racism**, mental health, addictions, intergenerational. trauma, relationship violence, bullying, sexual exploitation, involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Knowledge of cultural and social issues affecting Black youth and families.
- Sensitivity to the lived experiences and diverse needs, identities, and cultural backgrounds of Black youth.
- Knowledge of the community including a good understanding of issues related to social location.
- Knowledge and understanding of local programs and services to refer Black youth and families.
- Experience working and engaging within the Black community and under-served communities.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Master of Social Work, Counselling Psychology or equivalent and eligible for certification as a member in a registered professional association for practitioners in clinical social work practice, psychology, or therapy.
- Mental Health First Aid, First Aid and CPR Certificates.
- Must be willing to work 9-5 Monday through Friday, position is in-person, salary range is between $55K to 65K.
- Demonstrated ability delivering clinical counselling and support services to Black youth in crisis, helping them to address their specific challenges, and referring them to other community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to work from “trauma informed” response and impact of inter-generational trauma on Black youth.
- Demonstrated ability to support family members of high-risk and at-risk Black youth and refer them to other community services.
- Skills in case plan management and assessment of high-risk Black youth and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to support family members of high-risk youth and refer them to required services.
- Skills in establishing trusting relationships with youth of diverse genders and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to use “service centered approach”, anti-Black racism and anti-oppression framework.
- Skills in conflict management and negotiation.
- Ability to participate in team meetings, organization’s events, and fundraising activities on as required basis.
