**Job Purpose**

PAQ is an indigenous organization that supports First Nations, Inuit and Métis people facing housing insecurity in Tio'tià: ke / Montreal. Using a culturally appropriate approach based on empowerment and harm reduction, we provide housing options, accommodation and services that promote wellness and healing, and strengthen community. We work in partnership with others to promote the health and housing rights of urban Indigenous peoples.

This position is to work at new permanent housing facility for urban Indigenous peoples facing multiple barriers to being housed. Reporting to the Housing Coordinator, intervention workers have a key front-line role ensuring the safety and harmony in PAQ House. Intervention workers at PAQ House work in close collaboration with the Managed Alcohol Program residents, providing back up support in case of a need for crisis intervention, or alcohol service.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Under the supervision of the Housing Coordinator:

- Establish a bond of trust with residents through active listening and positive interactions.
- Ensure compliance with housing policies.
- Offer an active listening ear to residents.
- Provides support and intervention tailored to the needs of participants.
- Facilitates and promotes group living and a sense of community with participants.
- Provides conflict prevention and mediation between participants when needed.
- Maintains the stability, safety and cleanliness of the facility and ensures compliance with PAQ House policies and regulations.
- Supports participants with their daily living activities and ensures the smooth operation of the common spaces.
- Responds to crisis or emergency situations and meets the needs of residents according to PAQ procedures and services.
- Completes relevant documents, statistics and reports.
- Coordinates housekeeping duties of participants to ensure cleanliness of the facility.
- Participates in team meetings and trainings.
- Provide schedule flexibility.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Housing Coordinator.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- **Mandatory minimum of one year work experience** in intervention, social work or similar helping relationship related fields, preferably in the area of homelessness, addictions and/or Indigenous social services.
- Experience living or working with indigenous communities or individuals.
- Bilingualism (functional English and French) + indigenous languages is an asset.
- Crisis intervention skills
- Sense of empathy
- Initiative in problem solving
- Professional ethics
- Ability to work in a team environment

**Required Academic or Other Qualifications**
- First aid certification is an asset.
- OMEGA training is an asset.

**Contract**:Full-time or Part-time, permanent

**Location**:Downtown Montreal at the PAQ Home. This is an on-site role and cannot be carried out remotely.

**Remuneration**
- $25/hour for day and evening shifts (8 am - 4 pm, or 4 pm - 12 am).
- $27.30/hour for overnight shifts
- Health insurance plan for full-time employees after 3 months
- 10 paid personal/sick days, pro-rated for part-time employees
- 4% vacation
