**Job Summary**
This position will provide coordination and support to address increasing populations and regional impacts of non-migratory, resident Canada Geese. Works with partners and stakeholders to ensure a consistent regional approach, researches best practices, conducts outreach, and prepares reports.

The anticipated length of this term assignment is until December 31, 2026.

**Qualifications**
- University degree in applied sciences, biology, agriculture, or environmental studies, with three to five (3-5) years of directly related work experience or a diploma in pure or applied sciences from a technical institute of recognized standing, with six to eight (6-8) years relevant work experience or equivalent combination.
- Must possess a valid BC Driver’s Licence.

**Typical Duties and Responsibilities**
People working in this role can expect to be responsible for performing the following duties. This list is not meant to be comprehensive and other related duties similar in scope and complexity may be performed.
- Establishes collaborative partnerships with municipalities, First Nations, large landowners, Peninsula and Area Agricultural Commission, other government agencies and stewardship groups to implement the Regional Canada Goose Management Strategy and manage Canada Goose populations in the capital region.
- Participates on the Vancouver Island Canada Goose Management Working Group and works collaboratively with other Vancouver Island regional districts, local governments, and First Nations to manage Canada Goose populations using a consistent approach.
- Researches and evaluates best management practices for Canada Goose population control.
- Facilitates the development of a communications strategy and coordinates the delivery of public outreach and education program.
- Develops, promotes, and expands capacity for stakeholder and community stewardship through education programs, presentations and training workshops to increase awareness of the impacts of expanding Canada Goose populations and share best management practices for their control.
- Works with senior government agencies and stakeholders to obtain the appropriate permits and approvals, including the development of management plans required for permits.
- Answers and responds to public inquiries and reports, liaises with appropriate local government, First Nation or land manager, and follows up as necessary.
- Oversees and engages consultants and contractors - develops terms of reference, evaluates proposals, and reviews final reports.
- Organizes and facilitates stakeholder committee meetings and liaises with committee members.
- Prepares technical and annual reports, monitors and reports out on progress of work plan implementation.
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Independent and self-motivated to set priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder groups, proven ability to work well with multiple government and non-government stakeholders and strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team, responds to broad direction, uses initiative, be innovative and produce results without detailed supervision.
- Experience and knowledge related to wildlife management, population monitoring and field assessment procedures, habitat management. Previous experience working on Canada Goose population control is an asset.
- Excellent and effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills and strong presentation skills are required.
- Experience developing, coordinating and delivering public outreach and education projects to a wide variety of audiences and experience managing website content.
- Proficiency in writing technical documents, educational materials, reports, web and news articles.
- Strong project coordination and reporting skills (including, contracts, work plans, records), experience in overseeing contracts.
- Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and bylaws pertaining to wildlife management
- Knowledge of and ability to use various computer word processing, spreadsheet and project scheduling programs and databases. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
