Toronto, Canada CT Corporation Full time

**Help us boldly shape retail in Canada**

Canadian Tire Corporation’s (CTC) rich heritage of serving Canadians from coast-to-coast dates back to 1922. Our vision is to become the #1 retail brand in Canada and we are focused on innovating and making important investments in our business, especially when it comes to our people. To reach our goal, we need the best talent to help us evolve and drive change across the business - and boldly help shape Canada’s retail industry. As we strive to be at the forefront of a complex and vastly changing retail industry, it is an exciting time to join the Canadian Tire family of companies.

At Canadian Tire we work flexibly, embracing ‘Hybrid’ whereby individuals utilize a combination of working at a CTC campus and or virtually in service of outcomes. Determined by managers, decisions around work location will be made based on business and team needs and grounded in a desire to support individual well-being and personal needs. Our goal is to empower teams and individuals to make the right decisions for them, and we expect that to look different for everyone.

The Vice President, Merchandising is a customer focused, product centric, results driven people leader who will deliver on the objective of providing value and innovation and the best-in-class assortment for our customers, while being Canada’s top choice in our “must win” categories. The primary focus of this role is to lead and motivate the team to deliver the required financial results and operational metrics that include on-time assortment reviews and product introductions, inventory management and service levels, forecast accuracy and SKU productivity. In addition to running the P&L of the business, the VP will also develop a multi-year strategy for the portfolio as part of the annual planning process that will help navigate the business through the retail transformation that is happening today. This leader will need to have a strong financial acumen, strong retail buying/selling experience and strategic insights on developing market opportunities to grow the business.

**What you’ll do**
- Manage a team of high performing category leaders by providing leadership, coaching and development; ensure entire team is focused on driving key activity areas
- Lead the annual planning process, seasonal planning process and assortment management
- In collaboration with peer leaders, develop and operationalize strategies driven by an understanding of industry trends and market opportunities
- Work with our Owned Brand teams, Store Dealers, and other Merchandising leaders to develop and execute category level strategies and programs with specific sales, margin and inventory performance targets
- Responsible for selecting the best product assortment and inventory management for all lines of business while ensuring the team is consistently meeting or exceeding financial targets
- Collaborating and selling programs to Store Dealers to improve store penetration and sales of programs

**Who you are**

We are looking for high performing individuals who are:

- Demonstrated ability to manage a P & L and deliver against target metrics, including POS$, margin and inventory
- Agile and innovative individuals, who are able to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold and strategic moves in this rapidly evolving retail environment
- Creative thinkers who take initiative and are capable of building, launching and managing projects/programs that drive results for our customers
- Problem solvers with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet business objectives
- Collaborative team players with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward
- Effective listeners who create a sharing environment to surface ideation and identify the best solutions from an operational and customer perspective.

**What you’ve done**
- 15+ years of experience in the retail or consumer packaged goods industry; with direct category management/merchandising experience, ideally in outdoor, hardware or hard goods categories
- Experience with owned or private label brands.
- At least 10 years leadership/management experience with a strong propensity for team building, coaching and mentoring
- Proven ability to develop, manage and motivate a top caliber team around a compelling vision
- Highly effective relationship management skills with a track record of developing, selling and executing programs collaboratively
- Thorough understanding of the business, growth, change management, systems and process management
- Strong financial acumen and strategic mindset; experience in managing a P&L is required
- Superb collaboration, joint problem solving and influencing skills
- Strong track record of driving results and performance transformation
- University degree preferred
- Canadian Tire and its family of companies are boldly shaping retail in Canada
