Burnaby, Canada Gisborne Industrial Construction Ltd Full time

Gisborne's Fire Protection Division is seeking an experienced Fire Services Technician to perform the inspection and maintenance of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, suppression systems, backflow preventer testing and other related fire systems.

This position will be based out of our Burnaby office and will provide service support throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

**KEY DUTIES**
- Install and repair fire protection sprinkler systems in a variety of buildings and settings.
- Work with piping, tubing, accessories, and connections
- Must be able to work with: automatic, deluge or open sprinklers, foam, fog, and carbon dioxide systems - wet or dry standpipes inside hose pipe systems private fire hydrant systems fire pumps and related equipment
- Test sprinkler and fire protection systems for leaks with air or liquid pressure
- May be required to work at height - require valid Fall Arrest and Aerial Work Platform Certifications
- Must be able to inspect and repair systems for faults, leaks and deficiencies
- Respond to emergency call outs and make ‘on the spot’ decisions regarding repair of system failures and be able to execute the repair(s) to the system in a timely manner
- Manage work orders, timesheets, and other related paperwork required to be completed in the execution of duties
- Client liaison is critical - need to understand client needs and be able to converse with client representatives to inform them of the work to be done and rational for performing the work
- Annual inspections of fire extinguishers, systems, and other related items
- On call - part of a rotation of evening/weekend on call duty to respond to emergency repair calls

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Experience in the Fire Protection Construction Sector

**Skills**

Working knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook

Understanding of NFPA Code

Strong English skills - spoken and written

Able to work on own, troubleshooting/problem solving skills essential

Pay: $50.64 per hour
