**Accountabilities**
- Ensures clerical duties are performed
- Ensures Hospital guidelines and policies are followed
- Maintains confidentiality of information
**Decision Making Authority**
- Prioritization of work load to ensure timely processing
- Explain Accounts Receivable (Business Office) policies and resolve routine questions and problems; complex problems are escalated to the Senior Accounts Receivable Clerk or Supervisor
- Follow up on inaccurate transactions, missing documentation, etc.
**Responsibilities**
- Day to day processing of cashier related activities
- Completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all casher transactions
- Prepare Petty Cash reimbursement requests on a timely basis
- Ensure all Petty cash vouchers are accurately numbered and file prepared for upload to GL on a timely basis
- Replenishment of parking machines
- Ensure cash floats are maintained and properly accounted for
- Ensuring cashier is fully balanced on a daily basis
- All cash and cash related items are properly stored in keeping with hospital guidelines
- Clerical functions required by the department (filing, report distribution, mail, etc.)
- Explanation of co-payment charges to patients and families
- Verification of patient insurance information per hospital processing guidelines
- Visiting with newly admitted patients re: co-payments
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the Administrative Clerk, Business Office step-by-step manuals
- Other duties and responsibilities as required
**Education & Qualifications**:
- High school graduate, preferably with 2-year diploma in Accounting from a community college
- Previous experience with billing and collection of accounts, preferably in a hospital environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle and maintain confidential information
- Works well under pressure in a busy environment with multiple deadlines
- Ability to be flexible and adjust quickly to new work situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Works well independently and as a team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Clearly demonstrated competence in written English
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to adapt easily to change
