Primary Role of This Position
As a key leadership role, the Director, National Distribution Centres will have oversight of all Distribution Centre (DC) activities at selected locations and is accountable for implementing change in a positive manner, to take the DCs to the next level of performance. This position will drive operating KPIs and business results, extensive individual and team capability building, and succession planning. In addition, the Director, National Distribution Centres brings a strategic perspective and vision to the organization as well as to the DCs for which they are responsible. A strong focus and appropriate controls are required to optimize labour and improve customer service excellence through the effective integration of people, processes, and systems through collaboration with various supply chain and operation leaders.

Major Responsibilities
+ Assess departmental and individual needs to develop and manage objectives and strategies in support of the Corporate Objectives.
+ Provide DC leadership focusing on process improvement, labour planning, demand planning, and production.
+ Coach, mentor and develop DC leadership; provide appropriate development and guidance to help team members meet or exceed objectives.
+ Collaborate with internal departments across the organization and lead Operational Reviews with DC leaders, to ensure key performance metrics and operational and customer service expectations are not only met but exceeded.
+ In collaboration with the Regional Operations Leaders, prepare performance appraisals as per company policies and report on progress; assist in developing individual needs and appropriate training.
+ Drive positive change through a regimented focus on continuous improvement that cascades into setting and managing both team and individual performance objectives.
+ Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies (e.g., operational processes, optimization of existing information management systems) and cost savings that best deliver value for the organization.
+ Ensure policies and procedures are effective and enforced through KPI measurement and monitoring.
+ Overall accountability for ensuring that all employees are adhering to health and safety policies and procedures.
+ Travel, up to 25%, to regional DCs.

Education and Experience
+ University graduate or equivalent training (engineering degree an asset)
+ A minimum of 10-15 years of distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain experience
+ 7-10 years in leading a team of 20+ employees, preferably in a multi-site setting
+ GMP/ISO experience desired

+ An ability to think and act strategically as well as be flexible to work at the tactical/operational level; grasps complex ideas/issues and can evaluate/act on alternatives quickly and decisively
+ Engaging leadership and communication style at all levels with the ability to create a proactive, results-oriented environment and generate positive results
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver proven results, both financial and operational
+ Strong focus and understanding of continuous improvement best practices and tools
+ Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean tools/methodologies is a strong asset
+ Understands innovation as an essential driver of growth
+ Strong ability to organize, motivate, and gain respect of staff at all levels to overachieve objectives
+ Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills and exceptional judgment
