Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist will report to the Payroll and Benefits Manager. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits in accordance with company policies and the Employment Standards.

**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Process full cycle payroll function and benefits administration for multiple facilities and companies, both bi-weekly.
- Maintains integrity of the payroll database in compliance to internal policies and procedures
- Process timecard entries, postings, manage leave reports, garnishments, etc.,
- Administer group benefits programs (by adding new enrolments, updating salary and coverage modifications, and removing past employees)
- Prepare reporting, remittance, and forms such as Records of Employment
- Complete new hire, termination, retirement, probation, and change processes for all employees in collaboration with the People team; assist in maintaining filing systems
- Working knowledge of statutory and regulatory employment policies and procedures in all provinces
- Efficient, detail oriented, and able to effectively manage competing priorities with fixed deadlines
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification (preferred)
- Must have experience processing payroll for 150+ employees in multiple provinces across Canada
- An understanding of payroll regulatory requirements and Employment Standards Acts
- A strong understanding of taxable benefits
- Ability to analyze and review data for errors and be able to work independently
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Office skills
- An open mind about payroll optimization as well as development of payroll efficiencies
- Experience with payroll service provider transition is an asset
**YOUR EXPERIENCE**:
- 3+ years of full cycle payroll experience
- Experience with ADP, Ceridian or similar payroll systems; and
- Experience of working with both public and private companies;
- Experience administering or knowledge of group benefit plans.
