Danish Pastry House is seeking a dynamic and talented **Pastry Chef **for their production facility on the Mississauga/Oakville border.
**Job description**
At Danish Pastry House our focus is solely on classic Danish desserts, breads and sweet treats. We are striving to bring a little piece of Denmark's fabulous food scene over to Canada. As our company is rapidly growing we are looking to have a skilled pastry chef join our team to report to our Bakery Manager/Head Pastry Chef and help oversee the productivity.
**Responsibilities**:
- Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business
- Cut cakes/tarts, portion recipes, scale recipes
- Demonstrate a hands-on approach to all bakery products
- Ensure quality, presentation and consistency within all products
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Must be available to work flexible shifts including weekends
- Understand, operate, and maintain baking equipment
- Help oversee pastry team when manager is off schedule
- Experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role in a fast-paced kitchen/bakery environment
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- In depth knowledge of food preparation, baking techniques and sanitation principles.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Punctuality and discipline to ensure optimal work performance.
- Physically able to stand for long hours and able to lift heavy items.
COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to wear face masks. Stations are frequently sanitized.
**Skills and Experience**
**- **_**Minimum 2 year’s experience as a pastry chef or baker in a professional bakery environment.**_
- Able to multi-task
- Reliable and able to work independently with confidence
- Able to work as a team under the Department Manager
- Must be able to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skill
- Able to read instructions and follow directions in English
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
- Must be accountable for the quality and standard of products produced
- Able to pay attention to detail
- First Aid, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety familiarity
- Food handling certification
**Immediate Start**
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
