A Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) (CPHI(C)) /Board Certification is a requirement for this position.

The Enforcement Coordinator provides support to Public Health Inspectors in all aspects of their enforcement duties under all legislation pursuant to the Public Health Act, The Smoking and Vapour Products Control Act. This position also provides training and certification and coordination for all newly hired students and uncertified Public Health Inspectors.

Conditions of Employment:

- Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) (CPHI(C)) along with on-going membership and participation in the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors Continuing Professional Competencies (CPC) Program.
- Must have and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 (F) Driver's License.
- Must have access to a personal vehicle for use on the job.
- Must be available for occasional travel to remote locations and be available for consecutive overnight stays.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Post-secondary degree in Environmental Health from a recognized institution. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may be considered if combined with a Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) (CPHI(C)).
- Extensive experience in public health investigations, compliance monitoring, and enforcement activities (preparing court documents, issuance of warnings, tickets, and orders.)
- Experience providing mentorship to student PHIs and overseeing practicum training.
- Experience developing and making recommendations regarding policies, procedures and operational guidelines.
- Strong written communication skills with experience drafting technical reports and correspondence.
- Experience preparing for and attending court, including consulting with crown counsel on prosecutions as a result of enforcement activities.
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and experience in de-escalation.
- Leadership skills to guide, train and facilitate education opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to diverse stakeholders.

**Duties**:
The Public Health Enforcement Coordinator provides specialized enforcement expertise to staff and management regarding enforcement of the Acts, Regulations, Public Health Orders and Bylaws that the Health Protection Unit (HPU) is mandated to enforce. The position functions as a program coordinator and is responsible for the development and ongoing evaluation of policies and operational guidelines for enforcement. The incumbent will also provide support to staff and management with respect to all enforcement policies procedures, including on-site assistance with enforcement measures and coordinating with other agencies as needed. The incumbent will also oversee practicum training for PHI students.
