Key Accountabilities

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategy- Develops, expands, and implements diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, programs, and initiatives.- Owns and maintains the workplan related to the top DEI strategic programs and initiatives.- Leads the integration and alignment of DEI practices and initiatives with the current and emerging needs of the organization.- Collaborates with leadership on strategic planning that spans across the department and business and sets measurable DEI goals.- Monitors the progress and effectiveness of the DEI strategy to support the company’s business objectives.- Identifies and proposes strategies and actions to encourage leaders to adopt practices that promote openness and acceptance of diversity and that value equity and inclusion.- Identifies internal and external barriers and capitalizes on opportunities to improve gaps and streamline DEI processes to enhance our partner experience and support the corporation’s strategic direction.- Leads and participates in cross-functional work teams, strategic planning initiatives, workshops, and meetings to develop innovative and practical business solutions.- Consults and provides expertise inside and outside the organization to positively influence the DEI landscape.- Oversees and ensures that SGI’s DEI strategy and programming is current and aligns with industry and DEI best practice.DEI Programs and Services- Leads the administration and improvement of existing DEI programs. Programs include Employee Resource Groups, management training, etc.- Works with leadership to develop, implement and/or lead new DEI wide development projects, programs, and processes, ensuring programs are aligned with culture, corporate strategies, and HR TOMs.- Oversees the design and administration of DEI related surveys including the planning, analysis, and description of the results. Ensures integration of surveys to corporate strategy.- Project management for DEI initiatives including designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating.- Develops initiatives that support the full cycle recruitment process, orientation, retention, advancement, and on-going engagement of the SGI workforce who identify as members of an equity-deserving group in support of building a safe and inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated.- Participates in cross-functional DEI focus groups or committees, that initiates, advises and mobilizes support for initiatives related to DEI.- Collaborates with other internal stakeholders (e.g., Talent Acquisition) to build partnerships with key educational institutions and organizations to promote SGI as an employer-of-choice, along with external committees such as Crown Collaboration and citywide/provincial community groups.- Develops and facilitates presentations on the DEI strategy, DEI topics, program progress and metrics.

Policy Development, Reporting and Budget Management- Provides guidance and oversight to the creation and management of corporate DEI policies and procedures.- Designs and maintains key departmental metrics and reports to measure the success of the DEI strategy and initiatives. Evaluates overall program effectiveness through the review and analysis of metrics. Provides meaningful data to key stakeholders to create insight and influence opinions.- Creates, coordinates and/or reviews reporting for Finance, ELT, the Board and/or other related departments and agencies. Responds to and completes government requests as it relates to DEI.- Liaises with management, Employee Relations, and the union to facilitate resolution to issues associated with DEI initiatives, programs, and policies.- Oversees how SGI is using DEI related data from the HRMS.- Prepares, reviews, and recommends corporate DEI budgets; manages DEI event budget; provides oversight and monthly reconciliation to departmental budget categories to achieve overall budget targets.- Provides oversight in vendor management and contracts, ensuring alignment of content/material to SGI culture, organizational needs, and integrating to ensure seamless delivery.- Develops, prepares, and delivers reports, annual reports, and briefings for internal and external audiences.
