The Regional Community Mobilization Bureau is looking for a Complex Service Navigator to play a pivotal role in supporting the needs of our Service. **About the Role - How you will Contribute to the Service**:
Reporting directly to the Staff Sergeant of the Regional Community Mobilization Bureau, the Complex Service Navigator, is an essential member within the integrated mental health team. The Complex Service Navigator serves individuals aged 16 and up. In this role, the emphasis is placed on reducing recidivism in the community through dependence and involvement with the judicial and hospital systems. An eye for resolution and ability to navigate to the appropriate community organizations is required in order to promote mental health in the community. This role has a strong crisis element and will be required to provide a “drop and go” response to a person in crisis. The role requires the ability to work closely with all HRPS units to provide an in-depth review of needs, consultation and a timely response to cases presented. Lastly, the CSN will act as coordinator and instructor for the HRPS Crisis Intervention Training Course and will provide mental health training and instruction to our service members.

**What you will be Responsible for**:

- Provide intensive intervention and system navigation to individuals identified to be at an elevated risk and/or complex cases. Cases do not have a time frame for resolution, but rather employ a complete start to finish approach.
- Act as the point of contact and as a resource for all HRPS members who are interacting with complex at risk individuals.
- Provide crisis intervention and service coordination to clients with complex needs whose issues are related to mental health and addictions.
- Focus on creative strategies to integrate clients into the community and assist in stabilization.
- Make referrals on behalf of clients to a wide variety of community programs and services as needed.
- Review and evaluate requests for service in order to support individuals with complex needs.
- Build upon existing service coordination practices and collaborative efforts, including participation in case conferences, and develop working relationships and maintain contact with representatives of other sectors/organizations.
- Develop strategies to assist clients to prevent further crisis and establish personal goals that move them towards recovery.

**What you will Bring to the Role**:

- Minimum of five years’ experience working in complex mental health, at risk and addictions cases including clinical experience interviewing, assessing, mediating and providing therapy. In-depth knowledge of community programs and services within Halton and/or Ontario. Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization and/or establishing community partnerships.
- University degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
- Flexibility in scheduling is mandatory in this role as hours of work are extended and unpredictable and the shifts are constantly changing and/or short notice (e.g. long hours and call outs). The ability to work evenings and/or weekends is required.

**Previous Experience, Knowledge and Skills**:

- Experience in public speaking or demonstrated experience to provide an assortment of crisis intervention training, mental health training
- Attended coursework in Facilitating Adult Learning (F.A.L.) course or equivalent.
