**Yorkdale Volkswagen** is seeking a full time **Accounting Clerk** to cover MATERNITY LEAVE for 18 months
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk is responsible to execute the day to day accounting activities for Yorkdale Volkswagen.
**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
**Accounts Payable**:
- Verifies all invoices and obtains the appropriate authorizations for payment.
- Allocates charges to the appropriate G/L accounts and posts invoices.
- Prepares the monthly accounts payable cheques.
- Reconciles the statements of account and the ledger and ensures that payments take place within Dealership time frames.
- Prepares account analyses.
- Reconciles all related schedules prior to month end.
- Prepares payables invoices on a daily basis.
**Accounts Receivable**:
- Processes accounts receivable invoices, including processing vendee payments.
- Monitors and follows-up with overdue accounts.
- Prints statements at the beginning of each month.
**Vehicle Processing**:
- Processes all New and Used vehicle sales on a daily basis.
- Posts all sales in the CRM and Accounting Software.
- Maintains the commissions excel spreadsheet and ensures it is up to date.
- Posts all funding from banks and Volkswagen Credit.
- Prepares Commissions for payroll.
- Prepares Sales reports.
- Keeps abreast of manufacturer sales programs and ensures that appropriate accounts are credited.
- Sets up Volkswagen receivable for any sales programs.
- Sets up payables for Extended Warranties, Walkaway program and Symtech registrations.
- Reconciles all related schedules, prior to month end.
**Miscellaneous Tasks**:
- Handles cash, which includes, receiving cash, recording and paying out petty cash transactions, and handling the daily cash deposit.
- Posts all VW Warranty Audit Trails, adjusting daily RO’s that require changes.
- Posts VISA statement and Volkswagen warranty invoices in Volkswagen PP and complete monthly remittance (warranty).
- Cooperates in related special projects, on request.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:
- College Diploma or University Degree with a focus in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Must have dealership experience, and can post new and used deals.
- 2-3 years of experience in an accounting / booking keeping role with intermediate knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and accounting procedures.
- Attention to details is a must
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work based on month end and year end accounting cycles and financial reporting deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Solid analytical skills, self-directed, detail oriented, good problem solver, and has the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work with a team, to establish effective working relationships with staff, and to display tact and diplomacy in dealing with the customers and other departments.
- Handle all tasks with confidentiality.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
- Office environment.
- Majority of time is spent working on a computer.
- Governed by concurrent and dynamic deadlines, despite frequent interruptions.- Fast paced and multi-tasking required.
**Hours of Work**:
Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.
