The Mahogany Homeowners Association is seeking a summer student for the role of Water
Safety Ambassador. The water safety ambassador will launch the newly created _Mahogany _
- Water Safety Ambassador Program (WSAP)._

The Water Safety Ambassador will assist in the promotion and delivery of Water Smart education and activities. Tasks include creating and executing water safety activations. The Water Safety
Ambassador will, as an affiliate of the Lifesaving society, promote Water Smart public education materials to further enhance their mission by increasing awareness of the risks associated with activities in, on and around water and ice.

The Safety Ambassador will support community WASP Volunteers and provide education and training with respect to the Life Saving Society's Water Smart campaign.

Safety Ambassador will directly report to the Facility Manager and work closely with the
Mahogany beach team staff team. The successful applicant will also collaborate with MHOA staff on organizational priorities, operations, sport and recreation activities and initiatives to support our members, leadership volunteers, and the public.

- **National Lifesaving/Red Cross Water Safety Certification or previous waterfront experience.**:

- Strong swimmer;
- Knowledge of boats and successful completion of a Boater License is an asset;
- Comfortable with multi-tasking in a busy environment;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to demonstrate time management skills;
- Confident and experienced in customer service and has managed some conflict resolution;
- Enjoys working with people;
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure water and beach safety through patron education;
- Promote National Drowning Prevention Week
- Promote and support the delivery of the Water Smart® Campaign
- Develop and share Water Smart public education materials
- Provide support for WSAP volunteers
- Life jack fittings.
- Educate patrons about water hazards and safety;
- Demonstrate safe use of watercraft.
- Perform, onsite maintenance duties and checks;
- Provide first aid and follow-up as required;
- Maintain required regular reporting as required by management for better operation of the parks and facilities.
- Ensure all park spaces and facilities are looking their best for the membership
- Complete regular park tours and reporting any irregularities to team lead.
- Complete regular checks on membership ID to ensure no nonmembers are entering the parks.
- Assist in special events as required;
- Enforce procedures, policies and regulations and guidelines as approved by the MHOA

Board of Directors;
- Cleaning and sanitization of the facilities and equipment as per MHOA policies and procedures.
- Report safety, equipment, patron or staff concerns to management as needed;
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ensure all rental equipment is returned and is prepared and ready for the next member rental.

**Requirements**:

- Upon hire, completion of Mahogany HOA First Aid certification;
- Preference will be given to those with a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Swim for

Life Instructor certification;
- Work effectively with all types of people;
- Able to multi-task and prioritize in a busy environment;
- Able to work as a member of a team and ability to accomplish tasks with little supervision;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Able to demonstrate time management skills.
- Degree or education in recreation, business administration management or related
- Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
- Ability to initiate and model positive change
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
- Ability to anticipate and see peoples needs as well as complete and park tasks to ensure the park is looking its best for the membership at all times of the day.
- Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations

**Working Conditions**:

- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on occasions.
- Weekday, weekend and evening work
- An outdoor environment - appropriate clothing for various weather conditions is required for daily weather conditions.

- Overtime is limited but may be required;
- Physical requirements related to this position included, but are not limited to the ability to endure long periods of walking and standing,
