Homeward Trust embraces the Housing First philosophy; prioritizing access to safe appropriate housing without pre-conditions, with supports required by the participant to remain in a home. Homeward Trust Edmonton’s programs involve housing (such as capital project funding, property management, and sourcing access to new or existing units for participant use) and supportive services to individuals in or seeking access to housing programs.

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Funding and Claims Specialist, the Funding Administrator is responsible for claims processing and financial transaction processing for Homeward Trust Edmonton’s external agency funding.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Provide the first point of contact support for the administration of program funding on behalf of Homeward Trust by answering inquiries and resourcing necessary information for representatives of the funded agencies.
- Monitor the utilization of financial resources available through program funding and ensuring that contracted agencies are effective stewards of the funding provided for the purpose intended.
- Receive and process all documents from contracted agencies, verifying appropriate allowable expenses based on contracts and guidelines.
- Works with the funded agencies to resolve all problems with the claim submissions.
- Ensure all documents, claims, and cheque requisitions are processed and filed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of all stages through processing financial information, entering information into the appropriate database or accounting software, retrieving required data, and performing financial activities, as requested.
- In coordination with the RAP Administrator, manage all payments to funded programs by closely monitoring and printing cheques that will be issued.
- In partnership with the Funding and Claims Specialist, perform annual financial monitors on all externally funded agencies.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.

**Qualifications**

**_
Education & Experience_**
- Degree or Diploma with a focus in business administration, finance, commerce, or related fields is preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in accounting/finance/business operational administration and reporting, including program administration, developing, and maintaining productive working relationships with a broad range of clients, designing, implementing, and maintaining financial and activity records.
- A combination of experience and formal education will be considered.

**_ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities_**
- Proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite of products, including extensive knowledge of using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, and formula knowledge required)
- Sound analytical, problem-solving, and organizing skills with close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Very good understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
- Strong knowledge of accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger.
- Maturity and experience managing multiple priorities. Able to work independently and utilize sound judgment to perform all assigned duties with mínimal supervision.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, clients, and community agencies, and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and frequent tight timelines.
- Basic working knowledge of the non-profit sector, especially organizations working on homelessness and housing in Edmonton.
- General knowledge of assisted housing projects and housing markets.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions and the ability to work with culturally diverse people. An awareness and sensitivity to the plight of individuals experiencing homelessness, as well as the needs of vulnerable sectors is an asset.
