Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.

The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

**Environmental Technician**

To ensure compliance with all regulations and operating permit requirements. To assist the Environmental Superintendent and Senior Coordinator in the maintenance of a proactive approach to all environmental concerns and maintenance of good relations with the regulating authorities and the public. To facilitate on-site environmental sampling and reporting pertaining to various Environmental Monitoring Programs. To maintain field sampling logs and assist with data management and reporting functions.

**Key Responsibilities**

Area 1:

- Site Operations_
- Provide technical support and assistance to the Environmental Superintendent and Senior Coordinator related to Field Monitoring Programs (Surface/Ground water, Hydrology, Air Quality monitoring)
- Ensure time and temperature sensitive lab samples are properly packaged and shipped to analytical laboratories including the preparation of Chain of Custody documents
- Coordinate and assist various consultants visiting the site to conduct monitoring programs to support compliance or permitting activities
- Coordinate logístical requirements of monitoring activities being performed by various consultants
- Supervise Environmental Monitors and seasonal Environmental Assistants
- Monitoring activities at the mine site that are potentially harmful to the environment and suggest ways to improve them
- Execution of ongoing environmental permitting initiatives as they pertain to field operations at the Côté Gold Site and on and off site contractors, consultants and personnel at the operational level in the field
- Assist in the preparation of environmental field reports/memos, compliance reports, management plans and online reporting functions as they pertain to regulatory and permit requirements
- Management of monitoring data including data entry, database management and quality assurance.
- Maintain field environmental compliance files and assist in effluent treatment operations on site
- Participates in meetings and field inspections with the company, companies consultants, and regulatory agency personnel, as required
- Support site operations by planning and delivering environmental training for staff and contractors
- Other duties as required directed by the Environmental Superintendent and Senior Coordinator from time to time

Area 2:

- Environmental Legislation_
- Contribute to continuous improvement of environment-related processes and procedures
- Assisting in the assessment of new projects for potential environmental/legislative conflicts
- Staying abreast of environmental legislation
- Assisting in the implementation of procedures and scopes of work to satisfy provincial and federal government regulatory requirements at the operational level
- Implementation of procedures and policies and proactive measures and studies to prevent permit violations and further project development at the operational level

Area 3:

- Impact Benefit Agreement compliance_
- Environmental monitoring on the mine site
- Environmental monitoring of exploration within the Project Area or regionally
- Observation of any emergency response work
- Proactive First Nation community engagement and reporting on all environmental matters
- Participating as members of the Environmental Management Committee (EMC)

Qualifications

**Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves**

MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS, FORMAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS
- Technical Diploma in Environment Studies.

Work experience - Nature & Length
- 5 years of environmental and mining related experience.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
- Demonstrated experience operating various types of recreational vehicles and field instrumentation (ATV, Snow machine, boat/motor, flow/water quality meter, GPS, laptops, data loggers)
- Working knowledge of Government Acts and Regulations.
- Good understanding of the environmental impact of mining and milling processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts using Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Excellent orienteering and organiz
