**About the Role**

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager directs and controls the plant’s production operations and leads high priority and complex projects.

Production Manager is dedicated to producing the highest quality product and creates an environment where employees take pride in their work. They emphasize food quality, safety and security, complying with all government legislation and the expectations of Canada Royal Milk’s customers.

An experienced leader, the Manager will be responsible for hiring and building an effective production team. With support and coordination from HR, the Manager will oversee the training and development of all plant production personnel, including coaching and mentoring.

**Job Requirements**

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have strong English language skills. The ability to read and understand written English and communicate in English both spoken and in writing is a requirement of the job.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in a related field of study

Experience:6+ years of production management experience required. (dairy preferred)

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

1. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of a manufacturing establishment or the operations or production department of a manufacturing establishment.

2. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate plant production while continually striving for improvements to increase efficiency.

3. Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment to meet production targets.

4. Plan and manage the establishment of departmental budget.

5. Hire, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques.

6. Participate in the oversight and inspection of manufacturing equipment installation and testing, ensuring safety and compliance at every stage.

7. Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.

8. Develop and oversee implementation of production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.

9. Ensure that all the team members are familiar with and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

10. Provide leadership and supervision to staff by providing work direction, performance feedback, and recommendations for training and development.

11. Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.

12. Makes oneself available to staff provides regular performance feedback develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.

**Other Skills and Abilities**
- Experience with implementing an ERP system an asset
- Experience manufacturing infant formula powder an asset

**Working Conditions**

The standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Most of the work occurs during regular week day office hours. However, as an international company with frequent interaction with head office, hours of work involved may vary to accommodate differences in time zones. Flexible hours are required and may include evening and week-end hours.

During the commissioning phase, the incumbent is required to work closely with the equipment installation and other trades on the construction site. This involves exposure to inclement weather, hazards associated with a construction site and frequent standing, walking and bending. Health and safety training are required, and Personal Protective Equipment is provided.
