**Asset Management Planning Leader**

Annual salary: $ 127,900.00 - 161,800.00

**What you'll do**
- BC Hydro Environment Department has an exciting opportunity within the Water team to lead the Asset Planning and
responsibilities include developing near-term and long-term asset plans for BC Hydro’s environmental assets to meet BC
Hydro’s future business needs, ensuring reliable, affordable, and cost-effective services for customers in BC, and
planning studies and develop and justify projects and seek regulatory approval for these projects.

Additionally, you will lead the Environment KBU’s Project Management Office and team. Working closely with the
Environment teams you will set strategic direction for the PMO and set standards and define processes. As a leader you will
manage the team to achieve the strategic direction.
- Develop the Asset Management function for the Environment KBU including cross-business processes and partnerships

with other lines of business for the delivery and maintenance programs and investment projects.
- Develop cost estimates for the long-term maintenance of the Environmental Assets that are managed by the KBU

including justification and support for the costs of the program.
- Independently deliver planning studies and plan for the short and long-term reliability of the assets.
- Write business cases and achieve approval for the costs of the program.
- Track and report on the expenditures of the program.
- Work/coordinate with regulators to ensure asset reliability is approved and maintains regulatory compliance and external

approvals are achieved.
- Develop the Environment KBU Project Management Office including the tools, processes and standards used by the KBU.
- Manage the Asset Management and Project Management Office teams.
- Understanding of various Environment Acts and regulations is an asset.

**What you bring**
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Planning, Engineering or Project Management. Expertise in planning within

a power utility setting is highly valued.
- Minimum of ten (10)+ years of relevant experience in a highly regulated utility.
- Professional Registration in a related discipline such as PMP, P.Eng, or RPP is considered an asset.

Assets:

- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to conduct negotiations, make

presentations to technical and non-technical audiences, write technical papers and reports, and liaise with peers and
experts in BC Hydro and externally.
- Demonstrated leadership on various external technical committees, presentations at conferences, and provides expert

advice and information at public forums and legal and regulatory hearings.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, team building and project management skills, including cost control and project

administration.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with regulators, stakeholders and First Nations.
- Demonstrated experience with making risk-based decisions and the prioritization of investment and maintenance

decisions.

Leadership, Business Acumen, Relationship:

- Ability to analyze and resolve challenging and unusual problems independently and understand and appreciate

implications of costs, operability and safety.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate various complex technical studies and data of considerable complexity and

diversity, define and develop criteria and cost estimates for complex asset modifications and/or other major projects, and
develop tools for forecasting or scheduling purposes.
- Knowledge of various BC Hydro systems, policies and procedures including those for asset planning and project

management.
- Demonstrated conflict management, leadership, communication, team building, coaching/ mentoring, and interpersonal

skills.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and business planning skills.
- Thorough understanding of planning and related organization of BC Hydro.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the department or division.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and organize effective work teams and motivate team members.
- Successful, creative and persistent approach to influencing outcomes and meeting objectives.
