Research Scientist

Red Rock is seeking to hire a recent PhD or postdoctoral fellow with a background in connective tissue biology, tissue engineering or biomaterials.
The research focus of this position is to develop best in class bone graft substitutes and allografts with enhanced osteoregenerative properties. This would include performing biochemical and microscopic analyses, cell culture and in vivo studies.
**Location**: Downtown Toronto.
**Hours**: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
**Salary**:$60,000 to $90,000 per year (based on experience)
**Duties & Responsibilities**
1) Perform literature reviews
2) Review current processes to identify opportunities to improve product performance
3) Produce product prototypes
4) Develop and conduct experiments to evaluate prototypes
5) Prepare research articles and white papers for publication

**Knowledge**:
Knowledge of connective tissue biology and repair (required)
Knowledge of mammalian cell culture (required)
Knowledge of data analysis and basic statistics (required)
Knowledge of bone biology and regeneration (preferred)
Knowledge of bone biomaterials (preferred)
Knowledge of medical device design controls (preferred)
Knowledge of biochemical methods and assays (preferred)
Knowledge of connective tissue histology (preferred)
**Skills**:
Good oral and written communication skills (required).
Experience performing mammalian cell culture (required)
Experience performing animal studies related to tissue repair (required)
Experience performing basic biochemical assays (ELISA, enzymatic) (preferred)
**Qualifications**
PhD or MD (required), Post doctoral fellowship (preferred)
